IT’S BACCCCCCCCCCCCK — Tuesday, June 22, 2021

Saturday we had clouds come in—–and a smattering of delightful rain.

Smoke in the sky—-still.

Then last evening,

as we rode out to change the irrigation water,  we rode in gigantic surging drifts

and volleying gusts

of a staggering force of the dirty wind.

At least it didn’t last long.  This morning it is gone.

Although, the sky is still pretty smokey.

A Memory of Winter’s Chill —- Tuesday, May 11, 2021

Sunday night a huge wind/potential rainstorm came rolling into our area.

Monday the sky was heavy with low clouds and the air sharp enough to make a person think of January.

The weather people said rain, but (right here) we didn’t see any.

Just smothering dust.

Hopefully, we will start to warm up again.  I’m ready for the winter and it’s chill to just be a memory.

To My Delight — Monday, March 22, 2021

It was very windy Saturday afternoon, late

When on a wee walk-about I saw this delightful creature

He turned and looked at me with surprise in his eye.

I caught his face just before he flew away.

A Thrill of Euphoria — Wednesday, November 11, 2020

We had gusty winds on Monday

Winds rough enough the weeds were jerked loose and flung here and there

The dust was rather eye-filling, to say the least.

Still, the murmuration of the birds was delightful (see the wee sundog in the sky? Colder air on its way to us)

The swirl and

And the joy of the  Red-Winged Black Birds fills our sky each and every day.

Their dance is delightful to see so I go out often trying to capture them rippling in the air.

No matter what the wind does. (Scattering weed seed here and there for next year’s crop) 🙂

Bringing in storms

The buffeting wind can, also, scatter clouds giving us sunshine.

Before the Second Snowfall of the Year — Thursday, November 5, 2020

(This photo was taken just before the First Snowfall of the Year)

I decided yesterday,

I needed to go into the heart of the farm,

into the heart of the Earth;

where places of wonder exist,

places where I could forget politics

and angst

and worries.

I went off and on throughout the whole day

Looking at the crisped bushes, trees, and the fallen leaves

Gathering the heart of the Earth into my heart

Enjoying the peace

(Looking for these creatures)

The shadows

Before the predicted

High winds of Fall

(I only saw a few of these)

Are due in here of Friday

Bringing with it several days of the second snowfall of the season.

The light last night was lovely.

My favorite light—looking at the world through the color Rose.

The Gift of Sunlight, Water, Air—Thursday, June 18, 2020

We are back to having wind

…not a soft breeze, or a lovely gentle rush of air

But the blazing strength type of wind which whips your words away in a huge rush

The kind of wind which bends trees and drys out the land

Still, it’s all good.

Irrigation water has been cut back, causing us to change it every 8 hours, three times a day.

I think the Gods are watching us…

To see if we care about the gift of land, and sun, and air

We try to be good stewards.  It’s time-consuming, but very rewarding.

Then of an evening, we like to watch the world slow down.

Each and every day

Priceless.

In the Clamoring, Tossing, and Swaying Wind —- Thursday, April 16, 2020

Off we went down the next mile to load and haul dirt

When all that HUGE amount of trash came roaring down the canal, into our headgate and then onto the farm

The water washed away all the dirt along the cement ditch

We loaded and hauled dirt for two full days…

With several more days of loading and hauling to go.

Although the day was clear, the sky blue and the sun rippling between clouds; we had wind.

Look closely and you can see dirt dancing on the crisp bright air

Two full days, more days to go

Then water to set (which occurs several times a day)

The end of the day—finally.

On Easter Morning — Tuesday, April 14, 2020

I went out early to wake up the hens, put our freshwater and feed, open their little runway when I noticed how beautiful the sky looked–the first glimmer of the coming day

Easter day was cold, wind blowing, buffeting man and beast, water and earth in a (most) cold and nasty way.

Big clouds filled the sky, dark with the promise of moisture, which never fell

The last set of the day, then home again, home again where warm comfort waited by the welcoming fire.

I Believe in God—Wednesday, December 18, 2019

We still have a few drifts of the last snow we had…sitting all frozen and windswept waiting for either a warm day to melt away, or to gain more snow to smooth out the wrinkles left by the wind

The shadows seem to dance and rustle in the icy air

Our lives are such tiny little seconds in the eternal cycle of life.

I believe in God, belief in the stars, in the infinity of the World, the beauty of the earth, everything we have in each day by day our lives.

Yes, I believe in God and the gift of being alive.

Extraordinary Messages from the Heavens—Monday, December 2, 2019

The wind has enjoyed tossing the corn leaves high, high into the air

The horses have enjoyed the clear, sharp wind

Running, running, tossing their heads, manes flying

The air so sharp it seems to glitter

Racing up, and back, then over and down.  Their hard hooves picking up wee clods of dirt flinging the bits of earth in all directions

Lifting their tails, shaking their heads they race —onward then back.

While watching, T’Ata and Glory Bee, I saw another Sundog in the sky.

If these amazing omens are correct…we are heading toward major cold.
