Off we went together

Mom looking at this and

The Adventures of Mindy on Friday—-Okay, I Can Do This, Friday, March 12, 2021

I can do this.

I really don’t want to.

I want Mom and Dad all to myself.

But….

I’m getting used to HIM.

It helps he is growing older.

By this time in my former life of having children, I would have sent all my kids off into the big wide world to have adventures by themselves.

But…no, here I am an ancient cat (I am at least nine — heading toward ten, Mom thinks) having to raise a kid!

I do pretty nice, most of the time.

Although sometimes I just have to, I MEAN HAVE TOO, swat at that boy…he gets too carried away.

So…we’ve worked it out.  I have my chairs, he has anything else, that I don’t want.

I get the whole outside.

He is terrified of the whole outside (GOOD!)

I get Mom and Dad.

He gets Mom and Dad.

I get time away from him.

He gets to know me (some).

It’s coming together, Mom says.

I suppose.

The Adventures of Mindy on Friday— Adjusting, Sorta, Kinda, Friday, February 26, 2021

I’m adjusting.

Sorta.

Kinda.

I really don’t like that kitten.  He wants to pounce on me ALL THE TIME.

Which, does NOT go over, Thank you very much.

“SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”  With teeth bared and my claws out.

(Although, I know not to really hurt that thing.  I always look at Mom or Dad to show them I am just being the boss.)

Anyway.  I still live my life as if TLC Cai-Cai doesn’t exist.

I do lots of hunting.

I bring mice to Mom so she can have one with me…

although I eat them, she just pets me and tells me what an excellent job I do.

I sleep in the house on MY chair, have great kitty snacks, a drink of milk, now and again. And toast by the fire.

All this is good.

And—

When Dad is outside (which is lots of time)

I make sure I am WITH him!

Dad says I am the perfect helper.

I think so too!

The Adventures of Mindy on Friday—-DID I ASK FOR THIS? Friday, February 12, 2021

I don’t believe it!

I didn’t ask for this!

A dog friend maybe, but NOT A BABY!!

Come on, Mom?

What gives?

Sigh!

Well, I guess a baby is what gives.  It’s taking me a little spell to get used to this thing.

I’ve finally got myself figured out…I still love Mom and Dad.  I still come in a eat and lay around on the sofa and my bed, but if that KID decides to play with me.

I get up and leave!

I make Mom or Dad let me outside.

Then outside I follow my Mom and Dad around

but inside…

huff, huff…

I haven’t gotten used to having a KID around again.

Mindy

(Stay tuned for more information about this little twirp.  I guess he also gets his own, ADVENTURES on Friday posts. Sigh)

A Mindy Adventure Story—Life Goes On, Friday, February 5, 2021 Chapter Twelve

Chapter Twelve

There is a sadness Mom and I feel,

each and every day.

Sometimes one of us thinks we see

Boomer Beaglie Brown, but alas he is not there.

Although, I know something Mom really doesn’t know.

Boomer isn’t very far away.

Mom said she wonders if we animals live with the gift of ‘seeing’ and ‘knowing’ the other side.

Because of that knowing it isn’t so very hard for us to slip on over,

although, having to leave our furry bodies can be a tad rough.

Outside, where I truly like to live, it is still winter.

Some days the sun warms everything up nicely, somedays the heavy snow takes the joy from the warm.

Mice are still abundant.  Mice are my favorite food. They never really seem to become sparse, although I do work at keeping them thinned out.

The coyotes are terribly brave.  They come yipping and yapping in the yard, running down the farm road, they know our farm is just air and darkness, at night.

They know we are dog-less.

I weary of the coyotes, as does Mom.

Still, Life Goes On, the wind continues to blow, sometimes soft, sometimes a gale.

The moonlight filters through the tree branches, making the shadows look like cobwebs.

I feel and know that Boomer is here.  Maybe not all the time, maybe not as much as he once was, for sure not like he was before he passed over the Rainbow Bridge, but still here.

Boomer, Mom, and I love you.  We really do.  Thank you for coming to help me.  Your rare gifts of protection have been proof that you are here.

Thank you, my beagle dog-friend.

Thank you.

A Mindy Adventure Story—Life Goes On, Friday, January 29, 2021 Chapter Eleven

Chapter Eleven

I was out doing my ‘stuff’.

Here

There

Everywhere

When I had to pause and really listen

“MINDY!!! MINDY It is getting dark!  You need to come in now!”  Mom called from a long way off.

“MINDY!”

I ignored her.  I’ve been trapped in the house for a couple of days now, because of the big cold snow storm we had.  I’m tired of the house.

So, on I went.

Here and there and just everywhere I could think of.

It was getting dark.

Even DARK!  But I didn’t care.  There was so much to do out here and I wanted to do it.

I was just heading around the Butler Bins, where Dad stores grain, when

OH! NO!

OH NO!

RUN! I thought RUN!

I turned as fast as I could and ducked UNDER the feed grinder, then slithered my way past the tractor shed.

Up toward the

OPEN GROUND!!!

I looked back… so far so good.

MOM!

DAD! LET ME IN!

That’s when I heard: COYOTES YAPPING

Oh, MY HEAVENS!!!
MEOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!
MOM!!!!

I was standing there yowling for Mom or Dad when suddenly

Out of nowhere streaked

FREDDY FOX!!!

He came from down the long-lane to the house, dashing past the chicken house and right on through the farm YARD!

ZOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Then I heard…. yipping and yapping and in the distance the bark of Freddy.

It sounded like Freddy was leading them away.

OH, FREDDY THANK YOU SO MUCH! I mentally yelled.

THANK YOU!

Right at the moment, the door opened and I dashed into the house.

Whew!

That was close!

A Mindy Adventure Story—Life Goes On, Friday, January 22, 2021 Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten

BOOMER!  You were here!  You came!  I knew you would!  I just knew it!

You aren’t gone.  You are here!

YAY!

Let’s Play!

“Wait, Mindy.  Wait.  Why did you need me?”  Boomer’s voice came into my mind very loudly.

“Oh, Beaglie….it’s been so hard.  Everyone wants to know where you are and what happened I’m having to tell them and it has been hard. And I don’t want to tell Oreo or Freddy and his Mom Fox I don’t know what to do and I am concerned and I don’t want to have to tell anyone anymore that you are gone. OH! BOOMER!  Mom and I miss you SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!”  My thoughts wailed out into the nether world.

I could see Boomer look at me.

“I will help,” Boomer mentally replied.  After which he was gone.

So, I went hunting.

Hunting helps me.

I decided mice would be the perfect solution to take my mind off MISSING BOOMER!

I hunted here

And There

And every Where.

No, mice.

Still, just moving around looking around was a good thing.

The night was starting to come on.

I was rather late heading back into the house when suddenly out of the darkness came

OREO!

OREO!!!!!

I started to run, but Oreo ran right toward me.

I cringed down, trying to make myself small.  If I get sprayed Mom will NOT be happy.

Oreo came at full run…then skidded right to a stop….right in front of me…looking me right in the eye.

“Hey, Cat!  I just heard—Boomer has traveled over the Rainbow Bridge. GONE!  GONE!!!”

“yes,” I meekly replied. “gone.”

“OH! NO!”  Oreo turned and ran off heading off into the dark night.

I sat down and stunned.

“BOOMER!” I called in my mind.

THANK YOU!  Oreo knows.  He is sad, just like all of us.  Thank you for letting Oreo know.  I just couldn’t do it.”

MEOWWWWWWWWWWW YEOWLLLLLLLL

A Mindy Adventure Story— Chapter Nine, Life Goes On, Friday, January 15, 2021

Chapter Nine

I hopped up on the windows sill to ponder this whole sad mess.

It was about the time I was feeling most discouraged when I saw

Boomer following Mom to the house.

I sat up and MEOWED “BOOMER! YOU ARE BACK!”

I kept meowing and meowing.  I ran to the back door and meowed some more.

“Mindy Sue-Lou, what is up?  Why are you so agitated?”  Mom asked me after she came in from outside.

“COME TO THE BACK DOOR!  BOOMER IS OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW!  He followed you to the house.  COME, MOM!”

Mom put on her coat and opened the back door for her and me to go outside.

“It’s dark, Mindy.  Are you sure you really want to go outside?”

YES! YES!  Hurry, MOM!  Boomer is outside!

Mom and I made a mad dash out the door.

We looked all around.

Everywhere.

I would walk a little and wait for Mom. If she didn’t come, I meowed at her.

We looked at lots of places.

Sigh!

Nothing.

Mom and I went back into the house.

I headed back to my window.

Boomer WAS out there I know it!

BOOMER! I yelled mentally to the Rainbow Bridge. If you were out there please show me. Make it real!

I need to see you again!

I need help! BOOMER!!!

Meanwhile, right outside the kitchen window
