Mindy and Boomer Have an Adventure Chapter Three

Chapter Three

It wasn’t long before Mindy got tired of my checking out the safety of the farm.

“This is just plain boring, Boomer.” Mindy whined, “Cats don’t like sniffing around and checking out things, we like to MOVE!”

“Well, you better like it…there are other fur animals out there who LIKE to EAT cats!  Since, I rather like you, I want to make sure it’s safe for us.

With that I took off, sniffing here and there and here and there, while Mindy sat on the fence and glared at me.

Too bad, I thought.  I MUST make sure we are safe.

It was while I was sniffing here and there Mom and Dad came out.

I joyfully ran over to them wagging my tail…and I must confess…completely forgetting all about Mindy and the adventure we were going to go on.

Meanwhile—-Mindy didn’t forget.

Gathering her feet—

off she went leaving everyone behind.

Chapter Three

Okay.  We ran for a short spell.

Then Mindy decided to go this way and that way

and up and down

and we hadn’t really made it out of the farmyard.

“WHOA!” I bayed. “That’s enough running here and there and every which way and going NOWHERE!”

Mindy skidded to a stop and skittered ran back to me. “Why we stopping, Boomer? We are having lots of fun…there is so much to see and do?”

“Slow down, Mindy.  Let me get a feel of things.  I need to know if it’s safe to go out and about on the farm.”

“On the farm?!?!?!” Mindy gave me a very puzzled look.  I don’t really go out ON the farm, Boomer.  Mom won’t let me and I really don’t want to run into some of the furry creatures, and feathered hunters who live On the farm.  I just want to skitter and run and check things out AROUND the farmyard.”

“Oh!” I replied. “Okay, that works for me, but still, before we do anything, I HAVE to

check out the air,

the ground

and the all the sheds and buildings so I KNOW just what we are getting into.

I like adventures but at my very elderly age I need to pick my adventures carefully.”

With that I started checking out the air, the ground, around the buildings and the sheds,

with Mindy tagging along.

Mindy and Boomer Have an Adventure —-Mom Says We Have To Stop, She Gets to Blog Today, Friday, December 20, 2019

Mom says our adventure has to stop.  Just for this week.

She says its not a bad stop it is just because of TOMORROW

You see, it was a long, long, time ago, (December 21—that is tomorrow, but we take off  blogging on Saturday,  so we tell the story today)

In a land far away–(Eckert, Colorado)

On a dark and very cold, snowy night (7 p.m.)

Mom and Dad began

This wondrous journey

Of 52 years!

From our world your hearts,

Boomer, Mindy, Terry, and Linda

Mindy and Boomer Have an Adventure Chapter Two

Chapter Two

“Boomer! Let’s get on the move!  Sleeping our lives away is boring.  Just plain boring!” Mindy meowed at me.

“WHAT!” I sputtered. “You, a cat; who sleeps at LEAST sixteen (16) hours in twenty-four (24) hours, is telling ME sleeping is BORING?!?!”

“Oh, stop your sputtering and let’s go!”  Mindy walked to the kitchen.  Suddenly stopped.  Stopping so suddenly I bumped into her.

“Why did you stop, Cat?” I grumbled.

“The door, Boomer.  We need Mom to open the door so we can go out!”

Mindy turned and bounded up the stair meowing for Mom.  I could hear her heavy bounces on the stairs; one step-two step bounce, MEOW, one step-two step bounce, MEOW!

From far away, and far off I heard Mom’s tiny voice, “You want out, Mindy?  Okay, just a minute.  Let me finish—”

“MEOW!”

“Oh, alright,” Mom replied.

Then I heard Moms’ footfalls across the upstairs floor.  Then I heard Mindy start bounding back down.  As soon as I heard Mindy’s very loud cat footfalls, I pushed my nose against the back door, shoved it open with my shoulders and WAM! I was out and the back door slammed behind me!  Hehe

I walked over to the large silver water bowl and started helping myself to huge laps and gulps of cold, delicious…BRRRRRRRRRRRR ICE WATER!

I swallowed the very last sliver of ice just as Mindy came slithering out the back door.

“Yay FREE.

Let’s go, Boomer! The world is waiting!”

Mindy picked up her paws gave a little hop, skip and dance

peeling off toward the Butler Grain Bins.

I watched for a short while, gathered my paws under me and sped after her.

AWAY on an Adventure, WE GO!  I bayed!

Mindy and Boomer Have an Adventure Chapter One

“Boomer?”

“Hey, Boomer! I’m bored.  Do you want to do something?”

Snore, snerk, huh!?! Wha?! I opened my eyes to see Mindy cat staring right at my left eye.

CLOSE!

Like RIGHT INTO MY LEFT EYE!!

I jumped up, knocked Mindy over, shook my head, watched Mindy tumbled sorta backward, then left and squirm to right, land on her feet facing me, while I stretched my whole body out as far as it could go; giving a HUGE yawn all at the same time!

Fully upright and staring right at me, Mindy glared, then gave a huge MEOW laugh.  “Scared ya didn’t I?”

“Min, what is this all about?  I was sleeping soundly and right in the middle of a very good dream.” I rather growled at her.

“I’m bored, Boomer.  There is nothing to really do now.  Everything is wet outside, the birds are hiding, the mice are hiding, and I’ve chased off all the stray cats.  I need something to do.”

“Staying right here by the woodstove seems pretty okay by me,” I stated.

“I know.  I like it too. But…. I still want to do something. Like maybe, when the rain stops, we could go exploring?”

“Exploring?  Sure, Mindy, we can do that.  Just as soon as the rain stops and Mom gets home (or Dad) whoever is first.  They have to open the door for you to go outside. Then we will go exploring!

“OH! YAY! WONDERFUL!” Mindy yowled. “Let’s talk about what we will explore.  You lay right there, and I will curl up next to you, and make plans.

“First you tell me what you want to see, then I will tell you what I want to see—-Boomer?  Hey, Boomer!  Are you already asleep?”

Shoot.  I guess we will have to make plans after Mom and Dad get home.  Scoot over Boomer, I want a nap also.

Ahhhhhh….nice! ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— by Mindy, Company!!! Friday, November 29, 2019

Hello!  It’s Me, Mindy-Lou, Min-Min, Kit-Cat Brown.  Today is MY day to visit with you!

MY HEAVENS!!! What a week this has been!

Bella

And Zookie

Came to live with us for several days.

Bella is the same size as ME!

And Zookie is smaller than I AM!!!

Then Loki showed up

And Houston!  They stayed with my sister, but they came over here lots!

Mom had to take lots of walks WITH the dogs, because the little, tiny dogs need fresh air and to ‘do their business’.

And the really BAD thing is THEY SLEPT on MY BED!!!

But I got along with everyone just fine.  They are gone home now…and I am back on MY bed!

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— Friday, November 22, 2019, We See Rainbows

Mom, Dad, and I saw RAINBOWS!

Lots of Rainbows.

Sometimes Dad would say: “Look there is a Rainbow”!

Mom would get all excited, whip out her camera and snap.

When she would snap, I always tried to see what she was snapping AT!

RAINBOWS!

Not only Rainbows,

but we saw raindrops!

And there in the mountains….SNOW!

Lots of Snow.

Mom and I think all that is good, but more than anything I think

CHECKING OUT THE NEWS in the farmyard, EVEN better than Rainbows.

(Just say’n)

Beaglie Boomer Brown, or is it Boomer Beaglie Brown?

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— We Take A Golden Walk, Mindy Kit-Kat, Friday, November 15, 2019

Hello!  It’s Me, Mindy-Lou, Min-Min, Kit-Cat Brown.  Today is MY day to visit with you!

I had a very busy night, last night.

I checked out this and that and all things

around Mom’s yard.

Then I came in and took a very long nap right on my bed on the BIG Bed.

Then I got up and ate lunch headed outside; I had lots of stuff to do before it got dark.

There is lots of work for a busy kitty on the farm.

BUT the best part of the whole day yesterday WAS a walk with Mom, Dad, and Boomer

in the Golden light.

You see when the sun started sitting the whole world turn GOLD!

It was beautiful!

So Beautiful

I had to run and jump and skittered here and there and everywhere.

Mom said the Golden Light made her feel the same way.

(Dad and Boomer said they don’t get it…it just felt cold to them and time to head back inside.)

But Mom and I got it…so I guess it must be a girl thing…loving that Golden Light.

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— Brrr, But Who Cares, Mindy, November 1, 2019

It’s cold!  Very cold.  Like 5*f (-15c), this morning when I woke Mom up at dark o’thirty.

(From Pinterest)

Who cares!  Well, I care but, NOT THAT MUCH!  You see I HATE using my litter box!  I HATE IT!  Although I WILL if I HAVE TOO.

But when Mom and Dad are home I don’t HAVE too.  I just pounce and walk heavy all over the sleeping hoo-mans.

I don’t usually walk heavy, nor do I pounce, but when Nature calls…I AM POUNCING AND WALKING LARGE!

Yesterday was nasty.

But today the sun is shining, the frost is heavy on the ground and I say it’s time to get out there and catch a mouse or two.

Mindy Lou Kit-Kat Brown

P.S. Of course when I want in I YELL loudly at the back door until one of my people opens it and lets me in.

Then I run in like a predator was after me

…scuttle over to “MY SPOT” by the woodstove and take a long winter’s nap!

(from Pinterest)

I so agree!  (And this kitten looks like ME!)

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— Waiting! I’m Good at Waiting, Friday, October 18, 2019

Hello!  It’s Me, Mindy-Lou, Min-Min, Kit-Cat Brown.  Today is MY day to visit with you!

It seems like I do lots of waiting.

Well, first I have to walk about and do some hunting.  Then I wait.

I hide and wait for that skittery mouse to come rushing past me…then I leap and the wait is over!

I have to be very careful outside now…a pack of coyotes is back.  I have seen them as I wait in the shadows.  When I see them I wait and wait then I run as fast as I can to safety.

Coyotes EAT cats!

Sometimes I go for a walk in the dark, with Mom and Boomer. But also, sometimes Mom puts me in the house where I wind-up waiting for them to get back.

I always do my best to be there for Dad

(and Mom) but DAD first!

But the hardest waiting comes when I have to wait for everyone to come back from a four-wheeler excursion.

I refuse to ride, although, Mom has asked me.

So, I suppose, the very best thing I do is waiting. Then pouncing, and —oh, mom says I can’t explain the next part of crunching.  Oh! Yes, I’m also pretty good at spitting up fur balls, but Mom says I can’t talk about that either.

Mindy Kit-Cat Brown.  (I love how I have a family name now!)
