Two Gifts from the Earth’s Heart —-Thursday, November 14, 2019

These little kids, (teenagers, really)

Are Mom (Gambol Quail)

and Dad’s last of the summer’s bevy, (or flock). And they look like they are all boys!

They LOVE to see me head over with my sack of black oil sunflower seeds, waiting patiently for me to appear, ride up…then fluttering off to sit in the old tree while I spread out all the seeds.

I love feeding them, our farm is full of wildlife, for I believe a farm without wildlife is empty land.

While there I looked down, where I had walked many, many times and saw

Shining there in the tracks on the road was a HEART!

What a dazzling find!

Moving on, from feeding my wild creatures, I went down to see Shannon’s goats, horses Black Beauty

I found another Heart!

Wonderful, gentle gifts to warm my soul!

On a Late Autumn Afternoon—-Wednesday, November 13, 2019

Under a darkening sky

The geese steadily winging their way to the Upper End and the harvested pinto bean field

Beaglie and I headed over to feed the creatures

Waiting patiently for their yummy snacks

At the equipment storage area. 🙂

In the Hidden Glimmer of Cloud Covered Moonlight—Tuesday, November 12, 2019

The sunset casting orange and pink lights along the Western sky; flinging light of soft pale pink, orange, and lavender in the East.

The full moon of November (the Beaver Moon)

Rose quickly through the high, scudding, pink-colored clouds

Casting a half-light on the high branches of the freeze-dried leaves.

Shrouded in lavender clouds the full moon’s light

Petenerated, in a soft glow.

(And I was there to see 🙂  )

Linda

The Moon-lighted Darkness— Monday, November 11, 2019

On a wee walk-about in

The moon-washed world

Boomer and I strolled taking photos in the November cold

The vibrations of the night were full of ghosts, sprites, elves, and Winter-time dwarves.

Prowling silently throughout the darkening land.

These wee unseen creatures stalking alongside the predators of the night

Shimmering mysteriously suddenly there

Adding to the unusualness of a star caught in the glow of the moon.

The world…strange, glowing, twinkling

Everything and everyone in the shadowy darkness

All caught in the silver moonlight.

With a Sigh, the Canal is Now Quiet —- Sunday, November 10, 2019

The unfettered sounds of rushing, dashing, crashing water

Has now passed.

The fresh and heady scent of clean, clear water

Has dwindled down to

To nothing.  No more frothing white ice fairies

Or the orchestra of rushing water singing to us

Only the pebbles resting on the bottom, drying slowly in the sun.

The year has come full circle; March the water will be rushing back to fill the canals and our farms. For now, everything waits.

From my world to your heart,

Embroidered There Upon the Sky —- Thursday, November 7, 2019

(From Pinterest)

Every frosty evening  the geese come to our farm

Their voices serenade in lovely song on the damp chill air

Magnificent and wonderous; their wings rippling the air, making a huge swooshing sound as they fly overhead

Settling down in the harvested Pinto Beans fields, where their night-time rustling brings contentment to our farm.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Vigorous Splashes of Water Make a Form of Jubilation — Wednesday, November 6, 2019

(from Pinterest)

I was hauling wood for the evening when I thought I would head over to the canal to see if the water was starting to lessen

It is…soon there will be no water.

But —-in the moldering dead grass and fallen leaves I saw a most beautiful chill upon the land.

Ice Fairies painted with perfect splashes of water.  Brightening the dark and dismal banks along the edges of the canal.

Even creating a little glass-like bell to ring in the chill and hostile winds.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Dancing and Whispering —- Tuesday, November 5, 2019

(From Pinterest)

A few leaves have fallen off the freeze-dried branches of the old Cottonwood tree

Scattered here and there; stretching loosely across the farmyard

The chickens adding their delighted wing-stretching excitement to the downward slide into full-blown winter.

But what thrilled me the most (while on a walk with Boomer)

Was the swirling and darting of the leaves in a wee little breeze

Standing upright on their stems dancing, dancing, dancing creating a brilliantly choreographed ballet of green and golden leaves.

I was supremely delighted to have been gifted with this amazing event!

Frost Early This Year — Monday, November 4, 2019

(from Pinterest)

The remnants of Summer freeze-dried right on the trees, with that nasty storm last week. (As you can see the bright gold of Autumn barely started)

The moisture in the corn zipped down to harvest levels.  Although our renters have not started harvesting on our place

The alfalfa fields are just starting to show signs of turning brown…it takes alfalfa a long time to lose its green color.

Moon and one star

The chill of winter already upon the land.  Methinks we are in for a long, long winter.

Back on Tuesday Last Week, Sunday, November 3, 2019

(From Pinterest)

Back on Tuesday night, last week, Boomer and I took a wee walk-about

The wind was bad, restless; like a nightmare

Then it started to snow

I was frozen; we didn’t go far

The next day showed us diamonds on the earth

Which truly didn’t start melting until Thursday

Then warming up enough by Saturday it was all gone.  Leaving on wet spots where it used to be.

November has arrived; winter is officially here (no matter what the calendar says) 🙂
