The Scent of Ozone Sharp in the Air—-Wednesday, May 10, 2017

Yesterday was a cold, chill day…with threatening rain clouds, splashes of rain striking, in huge sploshes on the dry soil, and the collective sigh of all green things opening up for the possibility of rain.

Still the ground stayed dry enough Terry could continue leveling on the Middle field

Making it back into the farm yard,  while the lightening flashed and burst  way, way over there on the Uncompahgre Plateau.

One last check of the water before another patch of dark rain splattered and darkened the earth.

The sunrise this morning was stunning.  The Gray velvet veils of clouds had lightened and the silent, jagged forks of lightning way over on the rim of the western sky—- gone.

The enchantment of a new day, after a storm is just beautiful!

The clean fresh air, the smell of watered soil, the shining washed leaves—the brilliant burst of sunlight coming through wildly colored clouds…humbles me and causes me to give heartfelt THANKS for being allowed to be alive — to enjoy each and every day.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Time Passes Quickly, Like a Summer Cloud—Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Terry is creasing the corn fields now…knocking off the tops of the rows so the corn doesn’t have to grow through too much soil.

Everyday, twice or more times a day we are changing water.

Terry has started the last fields to plant pinto beans, then we have one more field to plant into alfalfa.

The days are long…way into the night right now…but passing fast.

We are making headway…my circle garden in now complete and planted. No longer the derelict western prairie graveyard it WAS looking like.  If the seeds grow, fingers crossed it should soften up.

I am thinking it will look sort of like this garden in time.

The Unbelievingly Beautiful Vista of Sunday’s Storms—Monday, May 8, 2017

Sunday was a day full of wind, threats of rain and stunning beautiful storms

The mountain ranges surrounding us filled with dark and threatening clouds, dumping either snow or rain, creating an endless series of drama

Even on the sawtooth mountain range of the San Juans…the snow-clad peaks etched needle-sharp against the sky received their share of the storms

Silent forks of dazzling light split the sky on the Uncompahgre Plateau and across the desert between Delta and Grand Junction.

Dull rumbles of thunder boomed in the canyons and hollows of the deserts beyond our farm. Sheet lightening shimmered far, far away threatening to come closer and closer to us.

Although the sky was a stunning crystal blue between the storms; the lightening would light up the plateau like an X Ray.

The air was filled with particles of dirt when the mighty gusts of wind pushed through

The storms raced here and there; composed of energy, and full of sounds echoing through out the sky and the earth

It was actually very beautiful.

We changed the water in both of the corn fields in the rippling, storm-filled spring skies…all of us driven here and there by the wind…shifting to hold ourselves upright and still set and move water.

It was exhilarating, to say the least.

From my world to your heart,

Last Tie Standing—-Sunday, May 7, 2017

Saturday afternoon Terry and I headed back over to the equipment area to finish ‘re-arranging the implements’ AND to take down the LAST post left over from our corrals.

There it was!  The last railroad tie standing!

I was very excited!  This is the FINAL railroad tie I need to finish up my new circle garden!

Terry hooked up the chain, I drove the tractor …  plop!

There is was…from railroad tie, to corral post; now it’s new life in my yard!

YAY!

We are Here Together—-Thursday, May 4, 2017

The mail brought me my new router yesterday.  I was so excited.  I only had to to clip in this and that and I was good to go!

Not only that, but I was able to finish up all my spring cleaning of the house, get one of the sheds cleaned up, AND I found one more railroad tie….I just need one more and my flower beds will be done!

The sunset last night was exhilarating–echoing loudly within the sky…creating a muted rush within me—making me feel light on my feet.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Constance Practice—Wednesday, May 3, 2017

The planting of corn started today.

The last couple of days have been wet and cold, but planting still occurs.  Terry planted some on Monday, then after a day off to celebrate; the seed is still going into the ground. 🙂

The day is beautiful!  Although, this spring has been chilly, I do believe we are having a real spring.  But warm weather is here today so I’m working outside!!!

The Earth Turns and the Wind Breathes —-Tuesday, May 2, 2017

And the the rising sun brings life

Seventy three years ago today…his Dad always said he came at the perfect hour, the endless waiting, the forever labor

That very accommodating first born son—allowed his Dad to get back home to the Dairy in time to milk.  🙂

This man who has lodged himself in my heart, and in the hearts of his children and grandchildren

He has that gift of self—for always doing what must be done

For 73 years he has lived on this mesa, first with his parents on their farm and dairy, then here on our farm.

Watching the heavens, in contact with the soil, taking comfort in the growing plants and the harvest

The stream of endless chores, tiny little jobs that keep the farm and everything on the farm moving forward.

Lucky me.

Happy Birthday, Terry!

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Broken—Monday, May 1, 2017

Today I am having computer troubles.  Sigh!

It seems my modem is finished…dead…done.

So I must be off to get one today…I’m rather addicted to my blog and to visiting with all of you.

I hope to get this fixed very soon.

Love,

Linda

For Lack of Attention—-Sunday, April 30, 2017

“For lack of attention a thousand forms of loveliness elude us every day.”–Evelyn Underhill

We took a wee trip…a get up at two in the morning, come back way after dark, sorta wee trip.

You see there was this auction, where several items of interest were being sold…

And, of course, most of the things ‘dreamed about’ went way, way over our budget.  But the next to last row, at the very end of the day (5:30) the (almost) last item in that row, was purchased for a decent price.  Once loaded up we headed back home.

Driving in the magic of storms, the fading light, the enchantment of a good buy surrounding us all the way.

Heading in a Hurry — Thursday, April 27, 2017

Have you ever noticed how life is full of heading somewhere….at a fast pace….

Always going someplace

In a hurry … the feeling always…don’t be late.

A rushing to an fro, and here and there sort of thing.

Then I read this:  “The trick is to look where no one else is looking. That’s where the beauty is.”–Giorgia Ori, Photographer

And I thought…YES!  That is what I want to do…find the beauty where others are not looking.
