The Glimmer of Watching Eyes — Sunday, March 29, 2020

Although times seem pretty dire…where we are all penned up like my rather spoiled hens

Some beautiful things have happened to me

A surprise hand-made card from Connie in Snowy Minnesota showed up in our mailbox. She wrote to us such a sweet and heartwarming note that all the gloom cast by the order ‘to shelter in place’ cleared all the trapped feelings.

And no matter what is happening on a human level, the alfalfa fields are renewing themselves for another season

Once more I had to pause…for there, flung up by a passing tire

I saw a heart…resting gently on the dark wood of one of my planters.

Then speaking of the wonders of friendship, Kate from Australia called me on FACE TIME, whereby Terry and I and Kate and her husband got to meet each other and visit the longest mostest wonderfulest of times!

I love this new world of Technology!

One afternoon last week I noticed shadowed patterns rippling upon Terry’s arm as he got into the pick-up.  I told him it looked like the sun gave him a full-sleeve and glove tattoo 🙂

Friday,  after we finished up and I was heading in to fix supper I stumbled, causing my camera lid to flip off and a photo to be taken

When I looked at what the camera shot, I saw another heart, resting somewhere on the ground…

I know times are terrible right now…in so many, many ways.

But I do believe, as, in all things, this too will pass.

Love you, each and every one.

Stay Safe, my friends!

My thoughts, my mind, and my prayers are with you,

From my heart to your world,

Linda

The Adventures of Mindy on Friday— Strange Prowling on the Farm, Friday, March 27, 2020

Boomer and I heard something…scary, sorta kinda.

So, we went out searching and looking.

Boomer told me to not go out at night,

that we should just sniff around here and

get the ‘lay-of-the-land’.

The smells will tell us everything.

So, we did—

Ah, yes…

the furry bandits of the farm…

trash can knocker-overs

and garbage eaters

O!

O! O! O!

Freddy Fox…RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN! HIDE!!!!

Oh, I don’t have to…that is just the SMELL of Freddy Fox.

ERK! GAG! HACK!

Oreo!

Oreo has been here there and everywhere.

Although Boomer says we MUST be nice to Oreo,

he has saved us from COYOTES more than once.

I think Boomer is right…

the smells tell us all.

Sleeping inside at night is the VERY best way of living a long and full-filled life.

Not Just a Single Thing—Thursday, March 26, 2020

There are so many good things happening….the water in the canal is now on!

My purple crocus popped up from the ground!

The wind is cold but it blew away the heavy clouds of the morning

The whisper of God’s (Your God, My God, and Everyone’s God),  Love is strong and  streaming all around us

There is the  promise of a new season of farm products

The little creek at the end of the place is flowing—small like a whisper, but growing stronger every day, sorta like the wind at the end of March.

I wish I had a globed ball of crystal, where I could look and see clearly where all this scary pandemic is going to lead us.

I wish I could see through all the treacherous smoke of this pestilence, and know clearly how things are going to turn out

But I don’t. All I can do is send to each of you hope, love, and prayers.

Stay safe my friends.

Please.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Rumors and Fear Fly Round and Round — Wednesday, March 25, 2020

Like stinging bugs

But, if —if we just slow down and listen to the god-filled skies

Or Heavens, if you prefer

You will have the courage, strength, and ability

To remain calm

The promise of warmer weather

Is changing the bleakness of each and every day

Soon to be nothing but a memory, a gift of a world-wide movement to bring us into a new world

A gift of darkness but also one of light.

Where friendships forged on the home-front and through the internet, will be strengthened; causing strong and unbreakable bonds

We are now visiting the future, although the bitter sting of the Coronavirus is making its wild and violent way around the world in the present.

The pandemic is leading all of us to band together, to be safe, to care for those we know and those we don’t know.

I am most thankful for all of you out there in my Blogland and on FaceBook. You make this trying time much better.

From my heart to each of you,

Stay Safe.  Stay Strong.

We will emerge from this into a new and better world.

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

It Was a Wild and Stormy Day (as per Snoopy of Peanuts, fame) —-Tuesday, March 24, 2020

Yesterday was one over those miserable cold days March is famous for.

But, gradually, ever-so-slowly the sky started to clear

Spreading sunlight in a glowing strip

Along the base of Grand Mesa

Highlighting the ‘Dobie foothills in a marvelous bath of sunshine!

From my world to your heart,

Dance Like Your Heart Means It — Monday, March 23, 2020

I was down at Shannon’s when I saw T’Ata playing in her water trough

“T’Ata, what are you doing?” I hollered at her.

“Taking a bath.  Swimming. I don’t know, Playing! HAVING FUN!”

“You did good, Girl!  All pretty now.” I told her.

Such a funny horse.  Taking the world lightly wherever she goes.

Against the Dancing Shadows of Dim and Scary Thoughts —- Sunday, March 22, 2020

I went shopping today

My heavens…what a whirlwind of amazing hoarding is going on

It’s stunning, to say the least

And the worker bees say if you shop after lunch it is even worse

The empty shelves, I mean.  And the number of people who are there.

And the stress and panic and attitudes are over-the-top.

With hysteria and nasty words bursting out at employees and fellow shoppers

In all the years of living

I have never experienced anything like this

ALTHOUGH! There are lots of chips, beer, and pop, folks! 🙂

There are signs out…but I think they are too late.

I think this will pass, in time.

We just need to remain calm.

Don’t you.

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

A Wee Ghost Time—Where Crazy Things Flicker on the Edges —- Thursday, March 19, 2020

Tuesday, all the Dental Offices the Eye Doctors and whomever else I don’t know about were shut down to patients.

They are open for emergency conditions only.

Thankfully I was considered an emergency.

For you see Tuesday I had surgery to remove a tooth and receive a bone graft to my mouth.

It has been a truly long winter, starting in October with that spider bite.

Thankfully I was able to have the procedure…intense is the word.

I struggled through a couple of long nights with a thundering headache, miserable shivering and magnified bad dreams

I have emerged into a rather cold and brittle March lion/like weather, feeling somewhat better.  All the drugs are now out of my system, (a mouth seems to heal fairly quickly),

And with the knowledge, I don’t want to open my mouth too wide and smile BIG to people I meet for FOUR months. 🙂  🙂

At the end of that time, I will have to decide if I want them to drill into my newly created bone and give me an implant

Or create a flipper.

But that is a spell down the road.  Tuesday, I was blessed. I was the last patient allowed to receive service, the hideous adventure I have been on since October is now winding down toward and end.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

On a Perfect Heaven-Like Day —- Wednesday, March 18, 2020

On a very perfect day

With metal sharp and cold, shining like silver

Terry started plowing the land

Charming the soil into thick rich rolls

A wonderous dance, which takes place in last year’s cornfields

The sent of the fresh-turned earth like none other

Leaving the life-giving cornstalks in the soil to develop into rich loam.

He then flattens all the clods and raised places making sure the corn stalks are there for the little earthworms to turn into the perfect food for this year’s crop.

What a huge gift to be able to live on the land.

Linda
