Last Night’s Sunset—Monday, October 5, 2015

We had a most gorgeous sunset last night…

Such a beautiful sight to behold.

Tonight after 5:00 I must call this certain number to find out if I have jury duty tomorrow. OH! How I hope I don’t have jury duty, or if I do…I am NOT picked.

I do NOT want to be the judge of someone else’s life. EVER!

I’ve had people judge me, and my life, and even throw stones. I do NOT want to decide the verdict of someone else life…..ever!

Here is a little Irish Proverb, which I like: “When I count my blessings, I COUNT YOU TWICE!”

Another Job Done Until Spring—Wednesday, September 30, 2015

Well, we got half of the dirt cleaned off of the settling pond! (all the edges must be cleaned off so the pond can be re-dug in the spring.)

The rest will wait until March or early April, just before the water is turned into the ditches on that field.

Boomer had a great time…but nothing compares to loading up and ‘escorting’ in and out hay customers! Well, maybe right up there with the Mail Lady—and SHE always has a dog cookie with Boomer’s name written on it!

A good couple of days work! Nothing broke down, everything went smooth as glass.

You can’t ask for more than that. 🙂

Like all of you, Terry and I waited for the Super/Blood moon to rise over the eastern mountains. (Although, Terry had to jump up randomly from the Broncos game), Boomer and I sat outside and ….watched!

Scenes of Fall, Monday, September 28, 2015

We have finished with the pinto beans. Cleaned up the truck and the combines putting them to bed for…well, forever.

Today we start hauling dirt from the settling ponds..

Sometimes we haul the dirt in the spring, but this year Terry wants to do it in the fall.

He is very serious about renting out the place next year, so he wants to have the farm in ‘perfect’ order for the renter.

We use this dirt to build up areas that have either washed away or blown away. This soil is also spread out over the farm ground to fill in holes that have developed.

Off now! My wish for you is that your day is the best it can be!

Getting Close–Thursday, September 25, 2015

We are getting close (now), to being done, with the pinto bean harvest. Tomorrow should see the end!

Prices are low. They are low on the corn and the hay also. But storing something doesn’t always produce a higher price later on.

I always find this so odd…the farmer get a small amount, but the retail in the grocery store is extremely high…too many middle people along the way, I guess.

We are still irrigating the alfalfa field. It’s a big field and takes a long time to get across, but we should finish with the irrigation by Saturday.

After that we wait.

Corn harvest will start the last of October, or in November sometime, it all depends on the moisture content of the corn.

Winding down to gear up again…it called harvest!

Pinto Bean Harvest for 2015—Tuesday, September 22, 2015

Our pinto bean harvest has begun in earnest now. (Fingers crossed we don’t have rain…rain would NOT be a good thing right now!)

We took the truck over and then Terry came with the combine. It was an all day thing, with more all day sort of things until at least Friday or Saturday of this week. (We are small farmers)
We sell our bean to the Beanery.

If you see sack of Red Donkey pinto beans you will know [possibly] there are pinto beans from our farm in them.
