The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—Company

I HAD COMPANY!  WOO HOO!  It was a great surprise!

Mom and Dad left and then when they came back they had a dog with them.

Sarah

Mom let us get to know each other slowly.  Mom introduced us…Sarah this is Boomer….Boomer this is Sarah.  We stared at each other for a short time.  Then we both had some good sniffs on each other.  That went on for a little while…then Mom said. “Come on, Sarah, Boomer, lets go inside and let Sarah get used to the house and where she is going to sleep.”

That went really well…Mom gave Sarah Fuzzy’s side of the mud room, WHICH IS REALLY GOOD!!!  Mom tried to get me to move over to Fuzzy’s side because she said it was much warmer over there—BUT I DID NOT WANT TO GO!

So GOOD!  Sarah has my Best Friend’s spot and I don’t have to take it. GOOD!

Fun

Sarah stayed with us three days and four nights!

IT WAS A BLAST!

Smells

At first Mom kept Sarah on a leash, Mom was afraid Sarah would run away and go back to Rick’s house.  Then Mom and I and Sarah would go for lots of walks so Sarah could get used to the farm and the farm buildings.  By the beginning of the second day, Mom sat down and talked to Sarah telling her to stay close to me so she would know how to get back to our house—then Mom took off the leash!

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE we had a great time.  Sarah helped me look for squirrels and mice…Sarah KILLS MICE!  Just like Fuzzy…pounce, bite, snap…all over for the mouse.

Walk

I don’t do that I just let the mouse run off.  Sammy will get the mouse at some point, I figure.

Inside Mom was a little concerned because Sarah wanted to herd the cats!  ALL THE TIME!

“No, Sarah!  Those cats live here…you leave them alone!”

So Sarah did, but just barely.  If either one of the cats decided to run Sarah said all bets were OFF!!!!  (Just for the record neither cat ran…I’m thinking that was a very good thing.)

The only time I had to get on Sarah’s case was when Mom was sitting on the floor in front of the fireplace petting me…belly rub….aaaaaah sure was feeling good.  Then Sarah came over and laid down RIGHT NEXT TO MOM! I jumped up and gave her the old one-two…she gave it right back.  Mom was right in the middle, which I guess was a good thing, and grabbed both of us by the collar and told us to both sit down.

We did, but just barely.

Then Sarah said…That’s okay Boomer, I won’t take Mom, but I will hang out with Dad.

Dad?  Hey!  You do that and all is good—I said.

After all that we were friends and getting along just fine.

Then the next morning a big white truck drove up in the yard.  A strange man got out of the truck…I sat up and warning bark and howl…Sarah leap to the door with me and started her warning bark when she stopped in mid-sentence.

What’s the deal I asked her?

That’s MY DAD!!! YAY!  I haven’t seen my Dad for several weeks…he has been working somewhere far away!

YAY MY DAD!  Sarah started dancing around and around.  Then there he was, leash in hand and smile on his face.

“Hi, Girl! Come her, Sarah…let’s go home.”

HOME!  Okay! GOOD!  Let’s Go Home.

Come on Boomer!  Come on MOM let’s go home!

Boomer?!  Mom?!

Sarah was really sad when she figured out Mom and I were staying here.  Mom bent down and gave Sarah lots of pets and loves and told her she could come visit again.  Then she gave Sarah a KISS right on the nose! And told her Thank you for coming to play with me.

I watched Sarah jump into the front seat of her big truck and drive off.

HOWWWWWWWWWWWWWL  I hollered!  THANK YOU FOR COMING, Sarah!  I had a great time!

Then Mom opened the door and we went inside to take a nap by the fire.  Well, I took a nap, Mom did something else.

Company

You know something….it was nice having company.

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—A Christmas Story from Fuzzy

iop I dreamed of Fuzzy last night. It was a good dream.  We used to do lots of stuff together…Fuzzy and I.

RideAs I was laying in the rather thin sunshine this morning I was thinking how Fuzzy used to tell me stories.

I miss his stories.

Since its Christmas time I got to thinking about the story Fuzzy told me last year…it went something like this:

My Fuzz and the Boom

Fuzzy and I were laying outside in our dog houses, sorta like I am right now.  Suddenly Fuzzy asked, “Are you sleepy, Boomer?”

“No not really.  Are you sleepy Fuzzy?”

“No.  I haven’t done much today but sleep.”

You know, Fuzzy, I was wondering do you know anything about this time everyone calls Christmas?

Well, I know a few things—like our people always put up trees, and hang lights outside so we can see the best bushes to pee on.  They go to town lots and come home with packages that Mom puts all over the place.  Then she puts those packages under the tree and waits.

Then the big day comes and everyone is here to eat food and drop stuff on the floor and eat food and laugh and make an even bigger mess than we would EVER think of making!

Really, Fuzzy…that is all there is to this Christmas Thing?

Well….really ….Boomer, no…no that really isn’t what Christmas is really about…it’s so much more.

Gosh, that’s good Fuzzy, please tell me.  I really want to know.

Okay, Boom…it goes like this—

When I was a little tiny pup many, many years ago my Momma told me this story.  My Momma said her Momma told her and her Momma before that all the way back to when this story started.

This sounds really good, Fuzzy I’m all ears!

It’s called—How We Got Christmas

Oh!  Good!  Now I will know.  Thank you, Fuzzy.

Well, a long, long time ago in a land far, far and away, a land full of sand and giant animals called camels.

Camels?

Yes, Boomer.  But the story isn’t about camels.

Okay, Fuzzy…I’ll listen.

In this land of sand and camels and sun…there was a man and a woman traveling to a big city to pay their taxes for the year.

What are taxes, Fuzzy?

They are like, hummm—if you have five bones and Mom makes you give her one because she thinks you have too many, then that one bone you give Mom is a tax.

OH!  I don’t think I like taxes.  I’m really glad Mom doesn’t make us pay taxes, Mom gives us the BONES!!! J

Go on Fuzzy, I like this story.

Okay, the man and the woman were traveling to this big city; with lots and lots of other people. There were so many people that all the places where people sleep were full except where my great, great, great, great so many greats that I can’t remember them all, Grandmother Dog was living.

My many Greats Grandmother Dog was the guard dog of a place call an Inn.  It was her duty to watch over all the travelers who came to stay with her Master in the Inn.  She also watched out for all the animals that her Master kept.

Every day my many Greats Grandmother would go with her Master to feed and milk the cow that lived in the stable.  It was this milk that her Master would feed to the people staying in his Inn.  She also helped wake-up the many chickens that were roosting in the stable, and went with the Master to feed and water the donkeys that were resting there until their people were ready to leave again.

My many greats Grandmother had a wonderful job and she loved every minute of it.  Most nights she would sleep in the inn, but when the inn was full she would sleep on an old blanket next to the door of the stable to keep guard over the many animals staying within its walls.

My many greats Grandmother Dog was just getting ready to go to the stable one evening, when a man and woman showed up at the door of the inn.  Her Master greeted the couple and explained that his place was full, that he had no room.

The man then asked if the Master knew of any place, just any place at all whereby they could rest for the night.  The Master said that he was embarrassed to say, but if they wanted they could bed down in the stable free of charge and rest.

Around the corner they all went, the donkey, the man, his wife and my many greats grandmother. Once there, and very close to the cow’s manger, the couple laid down their belonging and unloaded the donkey.  My many greats Grandmother Dog said that the man had very kind eyes and a soft loving voice.  He brushed the donkey down, gave all the other donkeys lots of pets, rubbed the cow’s ears and ASKED Grandmother dog to come sleep with them to keep them warm.

The lovely mother patted the blanket and called softly to Grandmother Dog and even offered her a small tidbit to eat.

Grandmother said it was the most peaceful time she had ever experienced in the barn.

It was just wonderful!

Gradually she fell asleep, lulled by the soft sounds of the other animals in the barn and the warmth of the man and the woman.  It wasn’t long before Grandmother Dog was awaken and asked to go guard the door of the stable. Grandmother Dog didn’t question the command; going to the door and sitting up in a guarding stance.

Like this, Fuzzy?

Yes, Boomer, just like that.

Well as Grandmother Dog sat in the opening of the stable door, an amazing light started to fill the sky. Then the light filled the whole stable!  Grandmother Dog turned from the door and saw that the light seemed to be strongest right over the cow’s manager.

Walking toward the manger ever so slowly and carefully Grandmother Dog saw a tiny sleeping baby.  The gentle Mother of the tiny baby called Grandmother Dog to come closer, to come see the tiny babe in the manger.

Grandmother Dog walked forward and stared at the tiny little bundle of human love and gave the sleeping child a HUGE WET DOG KISS right on its tiny little cheek!

When Grandmother Dog kissed this tiny human the child opened his eyes and smiled upon Grandmother Dog and she KNEW that this new human Loved Grandmother Dog clear through her soul.

Suddenly the light grew so large and bright that Grandmother Dog had to look up to see what was causing so much brightness…almost like the sun was in the stable!

WOW Fuzzy!  Was it the sun? AT NIGHT?  In a barn?

No, Boom, it was a person…a really beautiful shiny person!  The person was so beautiful that Grandmother Dog had to sit down and stare.

This really beautiful person then talked to Grandmother Dog in DOG language!

Really, Fuzzy!  A person can actually talk and understand dog language?

This person could Boomer, because this person was an Angel sent from above, to guide people to the stable.  So the people could see the new little babe and to bring him gifts!

“Oh,” Grandmother Dog said.  “I wish I could give this child a gift.  If I could I would give him my protection for the rest of my life.”

The Angel then looked into Grandmother Dog’s eyes sending love and peace and wonder, filling Grandmother Dog’s heart near to bursting.

“That” said the Angel “Is what this day is all about…the love of this child is for everyone and everything in the whole world. You, Little Dog, understand that you are willing to give – out of pure love – to those around you — which is Christmas!  Christmas is the celebration of the birth of this little babe and the gift of love!   Then the lovely Angel reached down and gave Grandmother Dog a wondrous kiss right on HER nose!

This whole experience touched Grandmother Dog so much that she told every one of her children and admonished each child to pass this story down clear until this day and forever.

Now you know the story, Boomer, maybe someday you will be able to pass this story on to another dog.  That way the gift of love from the little babe and the beautiful angel will never fade away.

Gosh, Fuzzy!  That was something!  I will…I will pass this on, someday, I promise.

Good Boomer, I’m a little tired now. Fuzzy said to me as he laid his head on his paws.

So here I am…just me.  Fuzzy is there with the shiny angels. I’m keeping my word, My Best Friend Forever, I’m passing on this wondrous story, like you asked me too and like I promised you I would.  That way the gift of love from the tiny baby and the sight of the beautiful angel will never pass away.
With-Mom

I thank you, my friend for this story.  Merry Christmas, Fuzzy, wherever you are.

Christmas

Merry Christmas to all of you too,

Boomer

Hay-customerA HAY CUSTOMER IS HERE!!! DAD!!! YOU HAVE A HAY CUSTOMER!!!  BARK! BARK! BAY! HOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWL!!!

Waiting

Hi, Ya, Sam!  Been catching any mice lately?

Wind

Your fur is getting messed up Monkey?  A bit windy out here for those of you with long fur!

Oh…look here is Mom.

What’ up, Mom!  What cha go’na do?

To-bed-1“Are you up to putting the farm to bed, Boomer?  Come on…we will go on out and get started, Dad will come up when he is done helping loading hay.”

To-bed-2 Mom reached down and picked me up and sat me down behind her on the four-wheeler.  (Mom has to pick me up and put me places ever since I blew my knee out.  My knee is healed now, but neither she nor I want it to get hurt again—so she always picks me up and puts me behind her—or sits me in the back of the pick-up or on the pick-up seat.)

Wait-2

“WAIT!!!!” Monkey yelled…..”I WANT TO GO!”

“No, Monkey—git!  It’s too far up there!  SCRAM!””  Finally Monkey ran back to the yard.Wait-1

Up we went to gather all the siphon tubes and stack them so the cows won’t stomp on them and destroy them.  Cows are like that ya know…if it’s interesting they like to walk on it to see what it will do.  Cracked siphon tubes in hooves is not a good thing, nor is it something Mom and Dad want to deal with either.

Hot

It was hot work…even if the sky acted like it wanted to rain, we all worked up a sweat…Mom even took her coat off…I’m glad I didn’t have a coat like thing on, I was already hot!

BirdUp one field, down another we went, picking up dams and tubes and straightening up anything that might get in the way of the corn combine…then I SAW IT!!!

HALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Looks like the coyotes got a Big Bird…sniff, sniff..snuff…

“Boomer what you got there?” Mom asked, as she walked up the last of the dirt ditch.

“Oh, sometimes nature is so cruel…my, that was a big bird, I wonder what kind it was.”

hidden-coyote-1

Dad arrived about that time—“Coyotes!  They’ve gotten very brave again…I saw evidence along the equipment area yesterday.”

Pink-1

Yeah, Dad….Mom and I can hear them when we walk at night.  Mom and I think they are hanging out down around the other house.  They wouldn’t be at that house if Hank still lived there, but since he doesn’t they aren’t afraid!

And we see scat everywhere…coyote poop!  I sometimes stop and pee on it.  Makes me feel…GOOD!!!  Tee hee.

“Coyotes…never a good thing.  You stay close by, Boomie, even if it’s daylight you don’t need to be scaring up some coyotes in their den” Mom admonished me.

Not to worry Mom.  Since Fuzzy isn’t here I try to stay within eye-sight of you…I know you don’t have anyone to protect you now.  I can still get the news, but I’m the only dog now, so I know you need me to take care of you.

Gathering-1

‘Come on, Boom, let’s go.

Fun

We got done faster with Dad’s help.  A nice little ride on the four-wheeler will cool you down.

Mouse-bucket

Then we need to go check all the water traps for the mice…the mice seem to be rather bad this year also.”  Mom lifted me up, started the engine and off we took right behind Dad.

iop Wind in your ears and cool air on your fur………………priceless!

Boomer

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—Wonder Goo!

Sometimes I just don’t get hoomans!  No I don’t.

Busy

If you find sometime good….something so wonderfully, incredibly good, something so delightful you just have to bay….HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

Weed

And then roll in it!

You always get a disgusted look—they actually (your humans) actually grab their noses and sometimes they even have to go herk.

I mean…come on!  Smells like this don’t come along all the time, they are a great find…a wonderful gift from the world of nature.

I just don’t get it.

Miss Tilly from Punkin’s Patch—sent me an email telling me she found some great stuff.

WOW!  Cool, Miss Tilly…go ahead and roll in it…roll really, really good!  Spread it alllllllllllll over you… start first with a really good sniff at the stuff…then with your neck—kinda scrape all the Wonder Goo onto your neck—try to get all four sides of your neck, you won’t be able to but try anyway.

Sniff

By the time you get the Wonder Goo on your neck a sorta daze will permeate your brain and it won’t matter if your Mom is yelling at you to stop….this is what you are aiming for…the permeating of your brain and the ability to ignore your mom.

Then as soon as you notice your Mom’s voice is far, far, farrrrrr away —get up and lay down on your back.  Make sure you lay your back flat down on the Wonder Goo and then squiggle and squirm all over it it…ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Boy that will feel good!  Just keep on squiggling until you are pretty sure you have every drop of Wonder Goo all over you and in your fur.

NOW!  You will have the Wonder Goo with you wherever you go!

Once you get done with this you can go and do whatever you want to do, since Wonder Goo is now a part of you!  I usually go show Mom!

Miss Tilly asked me if Mom would get mad…mine doesn’t I typed back to her, although, she does hack around a lot and usually makes me walk home with her.

Okay, Miss Tilly typed back.  I’ll print this off so I can have it to study.  Sometimes I don’t get the computer like I want, because Mom gets it first.

I always walk with Mom anyway so the walk home part is a cinch, Miss Tilly typed back to me.

I’ll let you know how it goes, was her parting line.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++=

Hey, Boomer?  Are you there?

Say’n Hi! Miss Tilly!  How’s is going back there on your sheep farm?

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, Boomer?

Yeah?

I found some Wonder Goo….

COOOOOOL!

Miss Tilly

“I thought you said I wouldn’t get in trouble for rolling in gross stuff!”

Oh!  Sorry, Miss Tilly….sorry.  I just thought the bath would be worth ROLLING IN WONDER GOO!!!!

Boomer!

The Adventures of Boomer—the Cats

Well, I guess it’s true.  Fuzzy isn’t coming back.

After following Mom around for days and days until I got into a daze (TEE HEE) I decided hanging with Mom 24-7 is BORING!!!!   If she is outside that’s okay, but if she is inside all that I can do is sleep.  Right at first that seemed like a really good thing….then it hit me.

THIS IS BORING!!!

I tried whining at Mom, trying to get her to come outside and ‘DO SOMETHING’, but she would just reach down and pet me all over and give me a really nice leg shaking/scratching belly rub.  Then she would continue dusting or whatever it was she was doing.

I tried helping her cook—THAT didn’t work for sure.

So I said to myself—“WHAT CAN I DO?!?!??!”  That’s when it hit me —I can make friends with the cats!  Maybe we could do ‘stuff’ together!!

Monkey-moo

The first thing I had to do was to get Monkey-Cat to want to go outside.  Monkey-cat never likes to go outside, but I whined and begged her until she finally said: “Okay, dog! Let’s go outside and see what so neat about being out there”!

1

Sammy-Sam grudgingly said Monkey-Cat and I could go out with him…BUT we could NOT get in his way.  He said he has extremely important work to do on a twice a day basis and we were NOT to create havoc with his routines!

“YIPPEE!!!” I howled…”LET’S GO OUTSIDE AND SEE WHAT WE CAN SEE!”

First we had to get outside…I can go…I just put my head against the back door and I’m out.  But the cats have to wait for Mom or Dad to open the door.

“To get outside, Monkey, you are going to have to sit at the door and meow and meow loudly”, I told Monkey.

Sammy turned a scornful eye at the both of us and said…”you just watch…I’ll get all of us out in a cat minute.”

Slowly he walked over to the door and sat down. He just sat there looking into the rest of the house waiting for Mom or Dad.

They never came.

It’s not working I fretted.

“Hang-on Dog I’m not done yet.”

“MEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW!!! Screech, yowl.”

“Wow! You sure are demanding, Sam,” Dad exclaimed as he walked into the kitchen then onto the back porch. Dad pushed open the backdoor and Sam yelled—NOW.  So we all bolted out the back door.

All

After a few minutes Mom and Dad came out!  “YAY!  We are all outside!” I bayed!

Dad headed over to the big truck where he is working on fixing the tail lights and Mom packed the trash to the trash cans.

Canal

“Come on, Monkey and Sam lets go see if there is any news at the canal.”

“SAY THIS IS FUN!”  Monkey screamed as she zoomed by Sam, Mom and I…”first one up the Willow tree is Queen of the world!”

“Look at that cat go!”  Mom laughed.  “I think she has finally figured out being outside is fun!”  Then Mom started loading up wood for the day.

Pathway

“Come on Sam let’s see who has passed this way.”

Neighbors-Tom

Sniff, sniff…..”oh, Aanda’s big yellow and white Tom Cat.”

Scram

“GRRR, GROWL   that neighbor cat is NOT welcome on this place….grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.” Sammy casted a malevolent eye toward the canal.

Outside-see

“What cat? Huh, what cat, Sam….how can you tell, are you sure…where did he go…huh, Sam?  Sam….”

“Shhhhhhh, Monkey…just put your nose to the ground and follow the scent”…Sam glared at Monkey.

“Sniff, sniff…..oh, yeah, you are right, Sam, snuff, snuff…yep, right here…down this side of the canal…”

Snuff-sniff

“COME ON…let’s see how far he went up the canal!” I invited as I slid down the side of the canal.

Down we all went- Sam, Monkey and myself.

“Oh!  This is really fun!’  Monkey exclaimed…”look there are pockets of water trapped between the rocks and little hidey holes under the long grass along the canal bank…”

“Look for mice”, Sam said.  “Don’t waste your time jumping on the rocks, Monkey…if you can find a mouse or two you can have a really nice snack.”

Smells

“You cats just go on and enjoy yourself, I think I’m going to hop up on the ditch bank road to smell what news is up here”…hummm,

One-of-the-herd

deer…yes…buck and a nice buck.

Travel

Oh…yes…the mom and the fawn are in the corn….RACCOONS!!!  A couple of big ones….snuff, sniffle…mice.  “HEY! SAM THERE ARE A TON OF MICE IN THE CORN FIELD!!!”

“SAM!”

“Thanks, Boomer, yum, yum, swallow, slurp…I found a few down here.”

“BOOMIE!!! WHERE ARE YOU?”

WHAT!  Mom’s calling.  Maybe I’d better —————head ——————–home…but………..wait……….hummmmmmmmm…skunk…I think they are getting ready to hunker down for the winter.

“BOOMIE!  YOU WANT TO GO TO TOWN WITH ME?  BOOMER!  DO YOU WANT TO GO!!!?”

GO?

GO” Town!?

Run to

“I’m COMING MOM!!! “

Run to

“I’m Coming!!!”

“Bye cats….I’m heading into town now.  See ya when I get back!”

A Gift from the Heart—Monday, November 17, 2014

A mighty wind continued to howl and scream giving the massive, heavy dark clouds a gigantic push all night Saturday night and into part of the day Sunday.  Just to walk outside would take your breath away as the  ❤⊱彡considerable strength of the wind shoved and pulled until the clouds and the ice storms moved on–heading toward the middle part of the United States.

Evening-3

Gradually the tail winds eased leaving behind a large arctic air mass, which will follow the rest of the vortex in an meandering sort of manner by the end of this week.

We woke up to 7* this morning…this is November, not even the end of November…with the day warming up to 30*….typical January weather.

Orange 1

BUT AT LEAST THE SUN IS SHINING!!!  I can take most anything if I can see the sun.

Our son-in-law and the two oldest grandchildren left right after dinner yesterday.  It was sad to see them go!  It’s always sad to see them go, but with the going is the returning so I hang on that thought.

Today Terry and I will be winterizing the other house; blowing out the pipes and filling the drains with anti-freeze.  If there was a furnace down there we wouldn’t be doing this, but there isn’t—not yet.  Not for a spell.

We are both ready for a break from the upkeep and the maintenance of that house!

Finally, finally I am catching up with all your wonderful emails and comments since the passing of my Fuzzy Dude. I thank you so much for all your thoughts and your continued contact with me.

Linky left me a packet of wonderful little letters on my pillow….I’m sharing with you one of her drawings…

From-My-Linky

Checky is the grandchildren’s dog before Hank Puff.  Checky and Fuzzy were very good friends, also.  Checky  is a doggy angel saying: Way to go Fuzzy!  Fuzzy is also a doggy angel saying No, don’t rain on Dad’s corn.  Under Fuzzy and a magic net to keep the water off Grandpa’s corn.  The corn is happy and full of butterflies.

A small but perfect gift from the heart!

Linda

The Adventures of Boomer—Morning News

111

I had a bad dream last night.  I woke the whole house going hooooooooooooooooooooo, whimper, whimper…whine.

Mom got up and sat with me for a while.  Then she and I went for out for a mid-night walk….that helped.  (We always walk around mid-night, Mom says it helps us sleep better—she and I.) I tried to tell Mom that I dreamed Fuzzy was gone, that I couldn’t find Fuzzy.  When we went outside I looked in our doghouses, then I realized.

The walk helped.

Deer

On the walk I smelled the Momma Deer and her almost grown fawn.

Deer-Tracks

They ran down the lane and into the barn yard.  Darn!  If I were outside I could have bayed at them!!!

Early Morning

Anyway, my folks get up at 5 a.m.  The sky starts to just show light around 6:15 or so, as soon as it started to get light I barreled out the back door to see if the deer came into the yard.

Nope…a yellow and white tom cat…he belongs to the Lady across the street from the other house….a female teenaged kitten…which also belongs to the same lady (she doesn’t believe in keeping her cats inside—so of course they come a visiting).

Yep

Sammy and

Monkey-moo

Monkey stay inside at night…and most of the day (if you really want to know the truth) Well…Sammy goes out lots during the day—

Sam-the-kitty

He likes to hunt mice in the hay stacks!   Mom says its best the cats stay inside, there are coyotes and fox who like to eat cats (and dogs) AND there are tom cats that fight, so staying inside and sleeping by the fireplace is a very good thing.

Deer-smell

Hummm yes…deer and they, snuff, snuff, sniff go right through the barn yard and on down the closest corn field.

More

Mom and Dad are working on one of the sheds right now.  They have to get out the air compressor so it can be ready to go with Dad.

Getting Light

Morning news….is a very good thing!

Boomer

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—Halloween

Well…what is there to say?  It’s been hard.  Life without my Bestest Friend in the Whole Wide World, Fuzzy.   I sometimes sit right in front of Mom and whine to her that it is hard.  I put up my paw and kinda paw at the air so Mom will understand what I’m trying to say.  She always reaches down and gives me a big hug and lots of pettings.

It helps…sorta.

Friday, the day after….the day after Fuzzy talked to me about Life and he said good-bye…was a very long day.

I lay on the steps, put my head between my paws and sighed huge deep sighs.  Dad came in from working on the corn combine and told Mom that I was having a hard time.  He then asked me to come in and hang with Mom, since Mom was also having a hard time.

It helped…sorta.

Then Mom got a call from Shannon.  I heard Mom telling Shannon I was super depressed.  (Boy was that correct!)  After a while Mom got off the phone and came over and sat by me and just petted me.  It felt really good.

“Wait! I have an idea, Boomer” I just remembered something from your first Halloween here….hang on I’ll be right back.  Out she went to the tile house…Now this sounded interesting so I followed her out the back door and into the tile house, where Mom was rummaging around in some of her big boxes out there.

“Here it is! Let’s go back inside, Boomer, and put this on.

Outfit-2I think you are going to dress up for Halloween and go for a ride!”

Dad laughed…  “Look he seems to like it!”

I did it was a fun thing to do!

While I was sorta dancing around so Mom and Dad and the cats could get a good look at me we heard Shannon and her dog pack coming down the drive way!

Outfit

OH! GOODIE!  THE DOG COUSINS ARE HERE!  I barreled out of the house and set up a loud welcoming bay!!!!

Halloween-1

They were all here and THEY HAD ON COSTUMES ALSO!  (That is me baying at Rocky–see if you can pick me out in the other photos…I didn’t move from this spot)

Halloween-2

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Shannon asked if Mom and I would like to go for a dog ride and dog walk!  YES!!! I hollered.

Up I went into the back with the rest of the pack—four hunting dogs and two Rottweilers!

Halloween-3

(OH!  I forgot about those annoying puppies….right in your face, licking and licking and baying and hollering and climbing on me————–IT WAS A BLAST!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sqXTglhoDg&feature=youtu.be

They also kept jumping out the truck and Shannon kept putting them back in and then they would jump out again….IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!)

Then we went for a short ride and fun run/sniff/walk it was delightful.

Only-one

Mom and I have been going all sorts of places together, always together.  She says we really need each other right now.

I agree.  (Although, there has been tons of people here, Mom makes sure I’m okay. Sometimes I have bad dreams in my sleep and hallooooooooooo for Mom.  She comes.  I try to tell her I miss Fuzzy that I dream he leaves me.  Then I wake up and I realize it’s true.  Sure is sad.)

Hummm-what's-down-there

Otherwise Mom and I are taking it one day at a time; just like Fuzzy said to do.  Sigh!

We are going to make it…the dog cousins’ help, and going for walks with Mom helps and going everywhere I can with Mom helps.  Just one day at a time.

One day at a time.

The Adventures of Fuzzy and Boomer—Fuzzy

I’ve been thinking, Boomer.

Fallen-4

What, Fuzzy?

I’ve been thinking about life, Boomer.  Life and all the good things that make up life.

I like to think about life also, Fuzzy.  What are you thinking?

Just this—If I could give you the gift of my years I would tell you to:

Fallen-2

  • Never turn down a ride in the back of the pick-up
    • Oh! You are so right, Fuzzy. There is nothing like the wind in your ears and the ruffle of the air on your fur…like the ride in the back of the pick-up
  • Don’t forget riding with Mom on the four-wheeler. It’s the best.  She goes slow enough we can always smell the smells and see the sights and….
    • And Never worry about falling off, Fuzzy!
    • Right, Boom, we are always safe with Mom.

Hummmm

  • Cats are okay….even if I like to keep Sam-Sam from eating out of my dog dish—I still pretty much like him.
    • Me too, Fuzzy, me too!
  • The really fun things to do are barking the mailman and the FedEX man and the UPS man down the lane. Helps Mom and Dad know we are guarding the place and lets them know we are the boss.
    • And all the trucks coming in for hay.
    • Oh, Yes I forgot about the hay people. You are right!
  • Don’t forget helping Mom with the leaves…leaves are fun…it is fun to run and bark in the leaves while Mom works.
    • It is Fuzzy, it is!

There is just so much I would like to tell you, Boom, but I think you know.

I think you know.

Fallen-2

Please let Mom know also, Boom.  It’s been wonderful here on the farm with Mom and Dad and you, my Buddy.My-Fuzzy-Dude-Brown

Oh, Fuzzy…How do Mom and I go on?  How?

Fallen-3

One day at time…that is all you can do.

Good bye- my Friend, Good Bye.

Fuzzy passed away today, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00 am. He died in my arms with Boomer lying next to the dog bed.  We are devastated.  All of us…  Terry, Myself, Boomer and the cats.

Thank-you for loving Fuzzy as much as we have.  I will be back Sunday or Monday or Tuesday…I need some time right now.

Friday Adventures will continue with Boomer and myself, for life goes on, albeit much more lonely.Fuzzy 006
