Mindy and Boomer Have an Adventure —-Mom Says We Have To Stop, She Gets to Blog Today, Friday, December 20, 2019

Mom says our adventure has to stop.  Just for this week.

She says its not a bad stop it is just because of TOMORROW

You see, it was a long, long, time ago, (December 21—that is tomorrow, but we take off  blogging on Saturday,  so we tell the story today)

In a land far away–(Eckert, Colorado)

On a dark and very cold, snowy night (7 p.m.)

Mom and Dad began

This wondrous journey

Of 52 years!

From our world your hearts,

Boomer, Mindy, Terry, and Linda

Mindy and Boomer Have an Adventure Chapter Two

Chapter Two

“Boomer! Let’s get on the move!  Sleeping our lives away is boring.  Just plain boring!” Mindy meowed at me.

“WHAT!” I sputtered. “You, a cat; who sleeps at LEAST sixteen (16) hours in twenty-four (24) hours, is telling ME sleeping is BORING?!?!”

“Oh, stop your sputtering and let’s go!”  Mindy walked to the kitchen.  Suddenly stopped.  Stopping so suddenly I bumped into her.

“Why did you stop, Cat?” I grumbled.

“The door, Boomer.  We need Mom to open the door so we can go out!”

Mindy turned and bounded up the stair meowing for Mom.  I could hear her heavy bounces on the stairs; one step-two step bounce, MEOW, one step-two step bounce, MEOW!

From far away, and far off I heard Mom’s tiny voice, “You want out, Mindy?  Okay, just a minute.  Let me finish—”

“MEOW!”

“Oh, alright,” Mom replied.

Then I heard Moms’ footfalls across the upstairs floor.  Then I heard Mindy start bounding back down.  As soon as I heard Mindy’s very loud cat footfalls, I pushed my nose against the back door, shoved it open with my shoulders and WAM! I was out and the back door slammed behind me!  Hehe

I walked over to the large silver water bowl and started helping myself to huge laps and gulps of cold, delicious…BRRRRRRRRRRRR ICE WATER!

I swallowed the very last sliver of ice just as Mindy came slithering out the back door.

“Yay FREE.

Let’s go, Boomer! The world is waiting!”

Mindy picked up her paws gave a little hop, skip and dance

peeling off toward the Butler Grain Bins.

I watched for a short while, gathered my paws under me and sped after her.

AWAY on an Adventure, WE GO!  I bayed!

Mindy and Boomer Have an Adventure Chapter One

“Boomer?”

“Hey, Boomer! I’m bored.  Do you want to do something?”

Snore, snerk, huh!?! Wha?! I opened my eyes to see Mindy cat staring right at my left eye.

CLOSE!

Like RIGHT INTO MY LEFT EYE!!

I jumped up, knocked Mindy over, shook my head, watched Mindy tumbled sorta backward, then left and squirm to right, land on her feet facing me, while I stretched my whole body out as far as it could go; giving a HUGE yawn all at the same time!

Fully upright and staring right at me, Mindy glared, then gave a huge MEOW laugh.  “Scared ya didn’t I?”

“Min, what is this all about?  I was sleeping soundly and right in the middle of a very good dream.” I rather growled at her.

“I’m bored, Boomer.  There is nothing to really do now.  Everything is wet outside, the birds are hiding, the mice are hiding, and I’ve chased off all the stray cats.  I need something to do.”

“Staying right here by the woodstove seems pretty okay by me,” I stated.

“I know.  I like it too. But…. I still want to do something. Like maybe, when the rain stops, we could go exploring?”

“Exploring?  Sure, Mindy, we can do that.  Just as soon as the rain stops and Mom gets home (or Dad) whoever is first.  They have to open the door for you to go outside. Then we will go exploring!

“OH! YAY! WONDERFUL!” Mindy yowled. “Let’s talk about what we will explore.  You lay right there, and I will curl up next to you, and make plans.

“First you tell me what you want to see, then I will tell you what I want to see—-Boomer?  Hey, Boomer!  Are you already asleep?”

Shoot.  I guess we will have to make plans after Mom and Dad get home.  Scoot over Boomer, I want a nap also.

Ahhhhhh….nice! ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— Friday, November 22, 2019, We See Rainbows

Mom, Dad, and I saw RAINBOWS!

Lots of Rainbows.

Sometimes Dad would say: “Look there is a Rainbow”!

Mom would get all excited, whip out her camera and snap.

When she would snap, I always tried to see what she was snapping AT!

RAINBOWS!

Not only Rainbows,

but we saw raindrops!

And there in the mountains….SNOW!

Lots of Snow.

Mom and I think all that is good, but more than anything I think

CHECKING OUT THE NEWS in the farmyard, EVEN better than Rainbows.

(Just say’n)

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— I Protect Mom, Friday, November 8, 2019

Mom and I were out and about.  Doing this and that and other things.

We would get on the four-wheeler; Mom would drive to here and there, then we would get off and Mom would do something.

I would sniff around and until Mom would call.

Back on the four-wheeler, we would go.

(Socks and flip-flops 🙂  )

It was way over by the old Apricot tree when Mom and I got off to ‘go for a walk’.

That’s what Mom said we were going to do

We were walking straight down the road when I suddenly saw

DANGER!

I crouched down real low, growled deeply in my chest; I had Mom to take care of, you see.

I kept like that for a long time.

BUT MOM KEPT ON WALKING TOWARD THE DANGER!

AND SHE KEPT CALLING ME TO FOLLOW!

Are you Kidding!  I’ve been out here on the farm in many dangerous situations and I KNOW DANGER!

I didn’t hurry up, but I started following Mom in my growling,

Creeping stance!

Making myself as BIG as I could make myself, raised my ears, lowered my tail and crept along.

Growl!

GROWL!  MOM COME BACK! I whined.

Suddenly the danger was right on me and it was

BLACK BEAUTY!!

I tricked Mom really well, don’t you think?

Boomer

(P.S. I knew there wasn’t danger all along, I was just tricking Mom.

Really.

My eyes still work very well, Thank you.

It was just to let Mom know I would take care of her.

Honestly.  This was all just a trick on Mom.)

Boomer

(P.P.S.S. I really thought it was a coyote.  But don’t tell anyone, okay.)

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— Black Beauty and I Have a Very Tiny Adventure Friday, October 25, 2019

Black Beauty came over to play with me yesterday day.  Black Beauty likes to play with me.

I’m very gentle with her, you see Black Beauty is a Special Needs dog; sometimes she just doesn’t understand things, but I take my time and I help her.

We sniffed out all the news on the farm.  Black Beauty didn’t want to go far without her Mom, but I told her it was okay.

My oldest sister was in the house with Mom talking.

They won’t be outside for a spell.

Black Beauty wanted to stand right at the back door and stare inside, but I gently nosed her away and showed her all the cool smells we can investigate.

Once she understood she was with me and it was okay to explore, it went very well.

Black Beauty is a Lab so she has a very good nose; i.e. ABLE TO SMELL EVERYTHING!

We sniffed here and there and everywhere—we smelled coyotes, raccoons, two foxes, and

Mindy cat.

It was a very nice time.

Then Mom and Black Beauty’s Mom (my oldest Sister) came outside

and we all walked back through the farm to Black Beauty’s home— gathering dog news all the way.

Boomer Beaglie Brown 😊

P.S. Some of the photos of Black Beauty have been posted before, but Mom forgot to get current photos on the walk; I wanted you to see Black Beauty in my news report.

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— Mom and I Out on the Farm

Mom and I went out on the farm to see what we could see:

(From Pinterest)

First off, we saw lots of tracks—Bird feet

Shadows of grasses

Shadows of the weeds

Shadows of corn

Some birds, but they were flying,

not walking

We have lots and lots of Quail…masses of them, like a bazillion or so.  (It’s really fun to run up to them and make them scatter; some fly, some run, some hide. Ever so much fun!)

We saw TWO snake skins.

One was SUPER big.  Mom said she was glad she didn’t see the snake, the skin was bad enough.

We saw Stanley

Fox feet tracks,

I wonder if it was Kit?

Raccoons, they are here, there, and everywhere

Mom saw a busy bug

in the flower weeds

I sniffed here there and everywhere

Mom and I had lots and lots and lots of fun!

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— Birds and Other Things Friday, September 20, 2019

Mom and I have taken to long walks.  Well, longer than normal.

We have to be careful because Mindy cat wants to walk with us and Mom doesn’t want Mindy to get side-tracked; stay out on the farm, and become COYOTE FOOD!

So, Mom puts Mindy in the house then we go out!

And about.

Looking for BIRDS!

(And other things.)

Sometimes Mom,

Mindy, and I go out at night.

That’s when Mom likes to take photos of the Moon…in every stage of the Moon’s growth.

Sometimes Mom will even get a photo of a wild creature…

like the Raccoons, who live in the hollow of the Willow tree and like to eat Mom’s tomatoes!

Although Mom personally has never gotten a photo of the Raccoons, she did put up a game camera so the game camera could get a photo of the raccoons.

(Photo from Mom’s archives)

The wild geese are plentiful now.  Three large skeins have flown over our heads, even while I write to you.

Soon the Sandhill Cranes will be here.  Mom says the big birds are back early…she thinks we will have an early winter.

But until then, there is still stuff to do in warm Autumn days!

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— I Had the Best Time

“Boomer!” Mom called. “Come here, Boomie, Let’s go for a ride.”

With that Mom picked me up and put in the back of Dad’s BIG PICK-UP!

That means we are going on a LONG, wonderful ride!

I scooted over to the big rug Mom put down just for me to sit on and gave a happy wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwoooo!

Then we were off!

Way, way off….first it was so hot I thought I would pant myself to death, then we were

There!

In the mountains where the air was cool and the smells were new.

Dad stopped and Mom and I got out and walked here and there and everywhere.  I sniffed and sniffed and sniffed.

Lots of mice.  Even lotser more chipmunks, no squirrels but big fat Whistle Pigs that Whistled at me than ran off.

Lots and lots and lots of peopley smells.  I snuffed on by those I can get peopley smells; creatures of the forest I can’t get.

Then it was time to head on home.  We stopped at a fruit stand where I met LUCY.  Lucy was a big, sweet, kind dog.  We got along really well.

Back in the pick-up and we headed home…it got hotter and hotter.

Whew!

I was glad to get home.

Ahhhhhhhhh.  Inside where the sleeping is good.

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— A Report from Mindy Cat

Boomer said I could talk to you.  He said Fuzzy used to let him talk every other week, so he asked me if I would like to talk to you.

It took me a long time to decide.

Boomer asked me WAY back when Mom was still hauling in firewood to heat the house.

I told Boomer I had to think about it.

So, I did.

I thought, and thought, and thought, and thought.

You see I am basically a very shy cat.

I lived a long, long time in the wild. I had several litters of kittens.  It was when I was having my last litter, I met Mom.  I had traveled from a long way to the other house.

Mom was down there painting the inside and the outside of the house because Misty and Kelly and the grandchildren had moved.

That’s when Mom saw me and I saw Mom.  Mom started feeding me every day some yummy cat cereal.

Gradually, over time, I followed Mom to my house now.  I made friends with Dad first, then I let Mom pick me up.

And, well, the rest is history.

It’s a good life.  Although, I miss not having kittens to love.  I loved my kittens very much.

My job is to keep the house, the farmyard and the other buildings free of MICE!

What an amazing job!  Just perfect for me.

Then whenever I want….and I mean WHENEVER— I get to come into the house and sleep anyplace my little kitty heart wants to sleep.

AND I get yummy treats, hearty cat food, and MILK!  I never knew MILK until I came to live with Mom and Dad.

I LOVE MILK!

Anyway, I guess I can get over being shy and help out Boomer on Friday.

Hello everyone.  This is Mindy-Lou Min-Min Kit Cat Brown

Finally.
