It Feels Like Spring—-February 9, 2017

coming-backIt’s warm enough I can walk at night without a jacket, although I don’t stay out long.  A brisk little walk.

night-walk-terryTerry thinks I’m silly; he bundles up.  But I run hot so it’s not too bad for me.

The days are warm…it was 67* yesterday (19.44 c).  Too warm for a fire in the woodstove.

clouds-002The sky is stunning

snow-beagleThe snow in the canal all gone…the above is just a memory.

inOnce more we made the hour and a half drive to Parachute, Colorado to watch Blade play.  He made some of the winning points.

bladenThey won!!!

Then we drove back home getting in around 8 at night.  Tired but happy!

Two more games to go…we will be there, Terry told Blade.  Blade replied, “Good.”

He is so cute…when he sees us walk in…even, if he is warming up, he always, always gives us a wave.  15 years old and still likes having his grandparents hanging around.

Of course his grandparents LIKE to hang around.  🙂

Getting Ready—-Tuesday, February 7, 2017

getting-ready-for-cows-001We spent the day checking fences,

checking-the-fire-roadRepairing any that needed fixing

getting-ready-for-cows-004And taking down the electric fence in Romeo’s part of the farm.

getting-ready-for-cows-006When the cows come they get the whole farm.  They do an excellent job of munching down all the weeds….all of them.

romeo

Romeo has selective tastes.  Romeo is also a stud horse, so must be corralled until after the calves come and they all leave.  He will herd the cows constantly, which isn’t a good thing.

The Phone Call—-Sunday, February 5, 2017

Our grandson called us one evening after basketball practice and once more invited us to his ALL DAY basketball tournament in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.

A job well done!

Cardinals from Virginia—Thursday, February 2, 2017

from-ritaRita from CountryGirl-LifeontheFarm sent me two lovely photos of the wonderful Cardinals she has visiting.  Here is what she says:  “We have several pairs this winter and I’ve heard that when you have a cardinal there’s angels watching over you. I’ll send you a couple more of the pictures I took over the weekend.”

cardinalWe don’t have cardinals here so seeing these lovely brilliant red birds in real life, must be a feast for the eyes.

And to think the Angels have sent them as messengers is an even lovelier thought!

Thank you, Rita for sharing with me and with my blog friends!

Dixie’s Birthday—Wednesday, February 1, 2017

dixie-judy-and-i

Dixie (the darling little girl with the bottom of her soles facing us) was my best friend all of my life.  From the time we were born.

Judy is one year older than us, (Judy has her hand up) and is Dixie’s sister.  It seems that Judy is always there to pick up the pieces and glue all of us back together.

Dixie always told us (Judy and I) , the first voice she recognized was Judy’s.  For she could remember hearing it from the beginning of all time.

dixie-and-i-first-day-of-sc

She was a tiny, vivacious, extremely funny and a very intelligent redhead.  (I’m in the plaid and she is the white dress)

We had good times and bad times, wonderful fun times and some miserable fights.  But no matter what, we were always friends through everything.

dixie-and-i-in-high-school

I am holding the cat; she is holding the cat’s paw.

We lost her over 20 years ago to cancer.  There isn’t a day that goes that I don’t think of her.  To see her in my photos makes me smile, although my heart is stricken.

Happy Birthday, My wonderful friend of my heart.  Although you are not here, I know you are not truly gone.

From my heart always,

Linda

The Routine of My Life is Part of My Daily Contentment—-Sunday, January 29, 2017

For you see….I truly love my life.
