That Lovely Shimmering Bright Glowing Moonlight—-Wednesday, July 8, 2020

Although, the heat simmers across the land, often times the night sky is cloudy

But, delightfully, the setting moon’s sky is clear

Shinning large and bright glowing over the Uncompahgre Plateau

Then quickly sinking as the glowing sun wakes up the day.

When the Corn is in the Silk, —The Deer Come Back to the Farm, Tuesday, July 7, 2020

Now that the corn is in the silk, the deer migrate back to the farm.

So I sat up a couple of game cameras to see if, and when, they had arrived

Deer are notorious for eating the silk off the little corn ears.

Corn has lots of predators—

Bugs, humans, skunks, raccoons, and DEER!

Yep…Here they are.  🙂  We love seeing them.  Terry worries about the corn loss, but we don’t do anything about it.  Some for them, some for us, is our thought.

The Promise, Moving Steadily into Being — Monday, July 6, 2020

For some reason, I always feel like July 4th is the Middle of Summer

I don’t know why I feel that way, but I do.

The dew burns off fast this time of year

The growth of the corn is increasing hourly now

Overnight the tassels have started to shoot upward into the deep rich blue of the sky

The soughing wind will soon

(see the tiny ear starting to form 🙂 )

Cause the pollen to float down onto the silks making little kernels of corn—- growing there in the dark green shadows of the protecting leaves.

Knee-high by the 4th of July…I do believe we have made it!

Happy Summer, Everyone!

A Gift from North Eastern Illinois —- Sunday, July 5, 2020

When the world has these, who requires much more?

Good morning, Linda.  It’s been a while since I’ve said hello.  So Hello!

(That was from this past Monday.)

I hope this brightens your day.

Take care.

What a perfect way to start anyone’s day!

Thank you ever so much!

Well-Come Summer Days and Summer Work —- Thursday, July 2, 2020

Here we are, the start of July — a time to me as a time of pleasure-

Next week will be the second cutting of the First field of alfalfa—the air will be full of that indescribable sweetness of green

We’ve been cutting brush…a tiny victory which has no truce—seems there are always ‘brush’ to trim 🙂

The corn is growing and growing—

Terry is standing on top of the ditch bank the cornfield is lower than the farm road

Summer is such a favorite time of the  year, for me

Time of heat, color, and joyful little birds

Moving on through the farm

The pastures are looking good, rich, green, lush

No way can I stand on the ditch like Terry…I would fall in!

Summer, when the sun starts moving back toward winter

But, everything else, myself included

Continues to dream-walk through the warmth, the heat, and the beauty of Summer

I Couldn’t Sleep Last Night — Wednesday, July 1, 2020

Sleep came hard last night…it seemed to avoid me

My eyes were closed, but my mind —well, I think you understand.

What caused my thoughts to shift and drift, and scream around in my head

Was the thought (or is it fear) we are in the middle of a cultural revolution.

We are in a time where we are crazily divided

There are sectional tensions and a feeling of gathering paranoia.

A feeling of not just drifting forward, but we jolting head-long–tumbling, falling, so to speak.

I woke, telling myself, I will put this out there—My thoughts need somewhere to go

A way to exhale; to stop the constant whispering at the back of my mind

So I shall write this, and let my worries, cares, and concerns dissipate

I will continue to believe in treating the earth well, the common decency of each and every person I meet, and

That common sense will bond us together. Not the squealing anger and fear

Which, randomly jumps out at us (me) now and again.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

I Sometimes Wonder — Tuesday, June 30, 2020

It’s been hot here of late, hot with a hot wind; a hot continuous wind

But that is not what I have been wondering about

I’ve been wondering about our world,

And for sure the crazy, frenzied, over-the-top actions going on in our nation

The anger, the destruction, the need to —- ?

Makes me think we are repeating a very old theme in history—

(This is the moon 🙂 )

That theme of gain and cost.  The desire to broaden command over valuable resources

at which (at the very same time) those same resources we are all absolutely reliant on as essentials.

I hope we have (not) now entered a time of unstoppable cultural fracturing.

I often think of Liebig’s law, of the ‘law of the minimum”

Which is deceptively simple: our limits are set, not by the maximum of necessary things, but by the minimum which is available.

Just a short trip the grocery store points that out to me in glaring shards of light

It’s thought-provoking

While I ponder this in an off and on manner.  Saturday evening we had rain

No matter how tight vital supplies are, how hard they are to get, how expensive they are to purchase — and how angry and over-the-top destructive things become—-there is always hope!

From my heart to your world,

Linda

P.S.  Please don’t write to me scathing comments about how wrong I am and I need to get my head out of the sand, or other mean things. Ugly never produces positive feelings. Therefore, I won’t approve your comment for I do like to live my life in hope.

Hugs to each and every one of you!

No Matter What Occurs —-Monday, June 29, 2020

While out setting water for the last time yesterday

Feeling all exhausted and wore out, from way too much work during the day

I found TWO heart rocks, resting where they have rested for a very long time

It amazes me how I can go by a place, work within a space, and never see a heart rock

Then, just as I need a pick-me-up; the invisible becomes visible.

From that point on, my heart, my mind, and my soul felt relaxed.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

On a Fun Cruise — Sunday, June 28, 2020

(Photo by Kyla Vasicko at the rest stop on Grand Mesa)

Our Car Club had a fun cruise Thursday…

We had to be up at the grey part of the day to get everything done so we could make it to Safeway, where everyone was to meet

Then we were off heading toward Rifle

To enjoy lunch at “Shooters”

After lunch, it was on to Glenwood Springs

Then Redstone

For a wee stop.  These are the coke oven’s at Red Stone

Soon we were traveling over  McClure Pass (we started to run into rain, at this point)

Home, Home again to finish up the days’ chores and to rest our sunburned faces. 🙂

It was ever so much fun!

Grocery Shopping — Thursday, June 25, 2020

I have been fixing food for years now.  Lots and lots and lots of years

When I was very young I delighted in cooking. ‘Helping’ my Momma or one of my Grandmothers.

Then as a young wife, the excitement of creating food for my husband

Was an adventure (and an eating challenge, to say the least)

So time goes on, many trips to the grocery store occur, lots of meals prepared and eaten until we reach today

I think my whole life has been made up of food:

  • Thinking about food
  • Read books about food
  • Hunting a.k.a. grocery buy—- for food
  • Making food
  • Going to an eating place to order food
  • Waiting for people to bring me/us food
  • Talking with others about food

And now TODAY (while shopping) questioning the lack of food

To be honest with you, I’m tired of the subject of food.

Sigh.

From my heart to your world,

Linda
