Mindy and Boomer Have an Adventure Chapter One

“Boomer?”

“Hey, Boomer! I’m bored.  Do you want to do something?”

Snore, snerk, huh!?! Wha?! I opened my eyes to see Mindy cat staring right at my left eye.

CLOSE!

Like RIGHT INTO MY LEFT EYE!!

I jumped up, knocked Mindy over, shook my head, watched Mindy tumbled sorta backward, then left and squirm to right, land on her feet facing me, while I stretched my whole body out as far as it could go; giving a HUGE yawn all at the same time!

Fully upright and staring right at me, Mindy glared, then gave a huge MEOW laugh.  “Scared ya didn’t I?”

“Min, what is this all about?  I was sleeping soundly and right in the middle of a very good dream.” I rather growled at her.

“I’m bored, Boomer.  There is nothing to really do now.  Everything is wet outside, the birds are hiding, the mice are hiding, and I’ve chased off all the stray cats.  I need something to do.”

“Staying right here by the woodstove seems pretty okay by me,” I stated.

“I know.  I like it too. But…. I still want to do something. Like maybe, when the rain stops, we could go exploring?”

“Exploring?  Sure, Mindy, we can do that.  Just as soon as the rain stops and Mom gets home (or Dad) whoever is first.  They have to open the door for you to go outside. Then we will go exploring!

“OH! YAY! WONDERFUL!” Mindy yowled. “Let’s talk about what we will explore.  You lay right there, and I will curl up next to you, and make plans.

“First you tell me what you want to see, then I will tell you what I want to see—-Boomer?  Hey, Boomer!  Are you already asleep?”

Shoot.  I guess we will have to make plans after Mom and Dad get home.  Scoot over Boomer, I want a nap also.

Ahhhhhh….nice! ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz

While the Gods Hoovered Around Us —-Thursday, December 5, 2019

“Now I see the secret of the making of the best persons, It is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.”— Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

While the Gods hoovered around us, and by us, and even over us

The corn harvest came to a final end, as the draining light fled the sky

Which was a good thing, because last night the clouds came in

Bringing to us chilly rain

a dripping and damp (but clean) earth

Then for a second, as the clouds parted for a wee small moment

Another Sundog glossed the clouds, simmering in rainbow colors. Quickly the clouds slid thickly over and the rains started to pour.

Our roof now echoes with the drumming of moisture.

All is well.

I Love the Earth, the Heavens, and all the Creatures Upon It —- Wednesday, December 4, 2019

“My wish is to stay always like this, living quietly in a corner of nature.”  Claude Monet

I love feeding the wild birds

They come in huge flocks now; remembering the yummy food from last year

I feel that nature, the Earth, the Heavens and the creatures all placed here on the world with us are treasure left to our care from the Gods

Otherwise, we would be quite alone in the world.

I think the Highest Powers of Creation took pity on us

Looking down upon our land, all covered in a giant mist of unfeelingness and caring.

They saw how very lonely it truly was, this Earth…there were only Humans.

Humans were creatures of many emotions, the worst was jealousy, anger, and greed.

Because the Gods loved the Earth and they also loved the humans…they gathered from each one of their Heavenly domains creatures to gift the earth; therefore man.

Causing a big storm to fill the sky

they covered the earth, driving all the humans into caves and hallows of trees

While the humans hid, the Gods started filling the Earth with Splendid things—

Rocks, trees, plants of all types and sizes

Seemingly ordinary things, yet so special they were magic unto themselves.

Birds and

Fur-bearing animals,

fish for the waters, and

wonderous little friends to raise up our souls.

Then the Gods lifted the ban on the sun

And Man saw how truly blessed the Gods were to the Earth and to all humankind.

Looking into the Realm of Stars —- Tuesday, December 3, 2019

There in the pale sky, just right there two stars —slowly drifting toward the Uncompahgre Plateau horizon

A thumbprint made its sudden appearance one day…

Last night’s evening clouds thick and dark and threatening

Snow on Grand Mesa with clouds hanging full and damp

Walking back from the equipment area I saw another sundog

The sunlight casting a prism in the sky!

From my world to your heart,

Extraordinary Messages from the Heavens—Monday, December 2, 2019

The wind has enjoyed tossing the corn leaves high, high into the air

The horses have enjoyed the clear, sharp wind

Running, running, tossing their heads, manes flying

The air so sharp it seems to glitter

Racing up, and back, then over and down.  Their hard hooves picking up wee clods of dirt flinging the bits of earth in all directions

Lifting their tails, shaking their heads they race —onward then back.

While watching, T’Ata and Glory Bee, I saw another Sundog in the sky.

If these amazing omens are correct…we are heading toward major cold.

I love feeding the birds

And watching the Canada Geese and the Sandhill Cranes creating their own gusting wind in the great blue of the sky!

If Boomer and I sit quietly then great flocks of birds come calling

Trying to rush us away so they also may peck and scratch at the tummy-warming black sunflower seeds

While out on the (now empty land) the other day, I saw a Sundog hanging silently in the sky.

It was still there, as the huge clouds built promising ‘weather’ when I came back from feeding the birds over by the equipment area.

Cold weather coming, the Sundogs say.  I like to think of them as wee little rainbows before the bitter cold.

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— by Mindy, Company!!! Friday, November 29, 2019

Hello!  It’s Me, Mindy-Lou, Min-Min, Kit-Cat Brown.  Today is MY day to visit with you!

MY HEAVENS!!! What a week this has been!

Bella

And Zookie

Came to live with us for several days.

Bella is the same size as ME!

And Zookie is smaller than I AM!!!

Then Loki showed up

And Houston!  They stayed with my sister, but they came over here lots!

Mom had to take lots of walks WITH the dogs, because the little, tiny dogs need fresh air and to ‘do their business’.

And the really BAD thing is THEY SLEPT on MY BED!!!

But I got along with everyone just fine.  They are gone home now…and I am back on MY bed!

In the Short Day’s Light —-Thursday, November 28, 2019

Our days, of each and every year;

Proceed as an amazing gift

The gratefulness of continued good health

The joy of truly getting to live our own personal dream

With the untold blessing of having very few wants

And the skills and ability to fix or create, if needed.

I have so much to be grateful for

My heart runs over!

Happy Thanksgiving to each and every one of you, my friends!

You are very much a blessing within my every day!

And, if you do not celebrate, this United States Holiday…I wish for you a wonder-filled day in your daily life!

From My Heart to Your World,

Linda

I Sing You a Song — Wednesday, November 27, 2019

We had snow Tuesday

Waking up in a raw world

Still, nature is beautiful

A wild heartbeat of birds in the sky

The misty thinning snowy sky

The haunting beauty of the geese’s call sounds like loneliness in the sky

Yet even though the snow has arrived, along with the bitterly cold wind

The big winter birds warm my heart and lift my spirit—

helping me sing songs to the God(s).

From my  world to your heart,

Linda

As Seen on the Night (Game) Camera —- Tuesday, November 26, 2019

In a small

silver shaft of silvered moonlight

There in the deepening dark

The night camera captured

The wandering souls

Who live in the emptiness

of the pearl-edged clouds

and the blackness of the farm.

The Wandering souls,

As the world nears the solstice,

who walk in the soft and lovely deepening night.

From my heart to your world,

Linda
