Happy Mother’s Day to each and every one of you
To those who are mothers of humans
Fur and Wool babies
And every single female who makes a nest, which protects and warms hearts near and far.
Love you, ALL!
From my heart to your world,

Boomer and I have been helping Mom
We help her in front of the house. Boomer sniffs for smells I look for mice.
I even look for mice when I am NOT helping Mom. 😊
Last night Mom, Boomer, and I went for a small walk. It was just the perfect amount for a very old, crippled beagle, but I (I) could have walked more! Much more.
But Mom says not a long way, we have to think of Boomer and his sorta, kinda, healing knee.
So, we went a sorta short way;
Mom took photos of the cloud-covered moon,
Boomer and I waited patiently.
This morning Mom came looking for me.
I was hidden in plain sight. I sat there for a long time, waiting for Mom to see me.
It took her forEVER, but finally, she did.
When Mom called me, I pretended I didn’t hear her.
That’s what cats do… pretend to not listen.
I even yawn, so she would know I wasn’t paying her any attention.
Then Mom turned around, just left me there.
WHAT!?!?!
WAIT UP, MOM! I WANT BREAKFAST!

I jumped up and ran after Mom, even beating her in the house.
Yummy.
Breakfast time is the best.

In the early morning light —first thing first is the changing of the irrigation water
The last field of corn Terry finished Mormon creasing….(knocking down the dirt over the tops of the little seeds trying to push their way through the soil)

Since the first field has popped up it won’t be long before this field is covered with little green baby corn
In just two or three days’ time! Isn’t nature amazing?
Everything planted now but one field. Just one. And that one will be after the first cutting of hay
Step-by-step the hours’ pass
Moving out of late winter, (when nothing seems to happen and life can be a tedious routine) on we go into early spring; one task leading into another task, now we are in the middle of Spring
With irrigation the constant motion of farm, crops and for the farmer(s) 🙂
Forward into each day–all steps ordered, giving a lightness and freedom to each of us
Perhaps, God—yours and mine and all of ours—whispering loudly for all to hear
Life is Good, Sing Loudly to the Heavens so all can hear!
From my heart to your world,
Linda
When we were invited to Grand Mesa to see the magical and eternal shift from winter into spring
We also got to see—Coyotes fishing on Baron Lake
Their spirit was high, joy running through their actions, rolling, tumbling, flipping their food in the air
What a huge delight for us to see! Just huge!

Some of our fields are irrigated by gated pipe
We have two different types of pipe, both are gated.
This means there are little gates cut into the pipe which are opened and closed as needed
The gated pipe sounds like a really nice way to go. No dipping into the water, no setting up of dams..just open or close the gate.
But, even things that seem like a gift in reducing the workload; has its drawbacks.
In this case TRASH!
Trash is a problem in all the ditches, (we have trash cleaners, but sometimes the wind blows in the trash after the trash cleaner has done its work.
Sooooo….here you are looking at a gate all plugged up with trash..stopping the water.
We come along and clean out the trash. Sometimes the trash is a stick or corn cob–those things get really, really, stuck. They are very hard to get out. Gradually, working and working our fingers into the little gate we can break up the item and force it out through the hole.
It takes time, but it can be done.
In a siphon ditch, a person just lifts the trash out with a shovel. 🙂
Happy Monday, Everyone!

Sometimes life is like moonlight
Filtering through lovely puffy clouds
Sometimes life is simple Magic— sitting right there on the edge of excitement
Or the sound of a motor within the chatter of bird songs
Or the enthusiastic sound of rushing water in a ditch
More times than not, it is the small everyday things
Which add up to joy.
And the overwhelming daily work
Which is always accomplished
in willing happiness
Happy 76th Birthday! You are amazing!
From my heart to your world,
Linda
Black Beauty and Loki TaMoki came for a visit. Black Dog comes every day, sometimes twice or more a day…she is my sister’s dog, which makes her my best friend.
Loki TaMoki comes once awhile because he lives somewhere, I’ve never been, with all the grandchildren.
So anyway,
Black Beauty came to see me, and Mom
Then THE ALL AMERICAN ATHLET showed up: LOKI TAMOKI

Loki came to see Dad.
After a spell, all the people went into the house, except Mom. Who went over to check on some stuff by the Tile House, so I went with Mom.
Suddenly Mom and I heard. MEEEEEEEEEEOOOOWWWWW! SCREEEEECH!
SCREAM!
Then WOOF!
ZOOM!
“LOKI YOU STOP THAT!” Mom yelled.
When Mom yelled Mindy ran as fast as she could to Mom…with
You guessed it the athlete right behind her.
BUSTED LOKI
(hee hee)

On Sunday we were also gifted with a fun adventure to the Uncompahgre Plateau
Brett and Marianne asked if we wanted to drive to 25 Mesa on the Uncompahgre Plateau for a small little trip.
Off we went…again 6 feet or more distancing…they in their jeep and us in our pick-up
We drove until we came to a weather station… a wee bit of a surprise.
Very interesting to see.
Then while the dogs sniffed and played, the wind enjoying a day off, I explored a tiny bit myself.
I found a tiny, teeny cactus, a tad larger than a quarter…blooming it’s little heart out.
I couldn’t find the type of the cactus, maybe you know and can tell me. Here is a link to some cactus found in Colorado.
But this one didn’t seem to be there.
Anyway, short little breaks of happiness in the daily work on the farm,
Your friend on a western Colorado farm,
Linda
