My Nighttime Dreams—Thursday, July 30 2020

Sometimes sleeping at night is hard

Not only not being able to sleep

But sleeping and dreaming with ‘bad’ dreams

Other times, it’s like I am walking with those who have passed before me

Those marvelous people of my past life

My parents and grandparents

My beautiful and marvelous sister-of-my-heart, Dixie

Haunting dreams

Causing me to wake; to feel fragile and uncertain

Most often I wake and can’t remember my dreams

I just know I dreamed,

Not all dreams are scary, threatening, or nostalgic

They are comforting and familiar

Warm and protective

Those are hard to recall, also.

So, I have decided those dreams,

Those glowing, comforting misty dreams

Which [the feeling] tends to stay with me all through the day

Are sent to me [us] from our dead family and friends

To protect us

And those still with us on the earth

Connecting with us through our dreams.

A Wee (But Rather Long) Post About Birds —- Monday, July 20, 2020

Spring is delightful,

It full of growth, new smells, the emerging from the long winter’s sleep

But Summer! Oh! My! Summer!

The songbirds start their day

And mine long before the grey light in the sky turns bright

The Fragrance in the air is spiked with all sorts of scents

Sometimes with a hot wind to carry things before it

The days are long

The Twilight longer

Life is good.

Which reminds me, does anyone know what bird this is?

Or this bird?  Are they one in the same?

From my heart to your world,

Linda

Where the God(s) Live—Tuesday, June 16, 2020

As a child, I often wondered (sometimes worried) where does God Live?

When I asked ‘those who know’  they always pointed to the sky

Somewhere way up there far, far away

Or, if I were at church, my Sunday School teacher would say “Here in God’s House”

Now, that REALLY got me concerned, because AFTER ALL, here we were all tromping around in GOD’S HOUSE

And God was NEVER Home!

Of course, over-time, Momma explained to me that God lived in our hearts

Which became truly confusing, because I could never really feel a BIG, All-Encompassing person, with a white robe, white hair and beard, and scary fiery eyes —-in my heart.

Wouldn’t my heart be too heavy for my body then?

My paternal Grandmother (who was a STAUCH Presberterian) said, “No, Linda…not a physical person in your heart…but a feeling in your heart”!

Still very confused I took my worry, my small child’s concern to my maternal grandmother (who was a staunch Baptist)

Who told me to pray about my question to the Heaven/God and see what I learn.

“O!”

New thought!

So I prayed.  Every night. Every morning. Asking where God lived.

I was sitting outside on the cement step with my maternal Grandfather when I thought to ask him the question—“Where does God live?”

“Why, Sweet Thing, he lives everywhere.  And nowhere

“He is a great mystery.  And one we should always honor.” Granddad reached over and pulled me next to him, took up my hand, and placed it in his.

God belongs to no one and everyone. He is in many forms and helps many people.

He touches all of us, just like the light from the sun and the moon and the stars.

Then he pulled me close in a hug.

It was then I understood.

I Wish You a Happy Mother’s Day —- Sunday, May 10, 2020

Happy Mother’s Day to each and every one of you

To those who are mothers of humans

Fur and Wool babies

And every single female who makes a nest, which protects and warms hearts near and far.

Love you, ALL!

From my heart to your world,

Linda

The Days are Warmer Now—The Promise of Summer to Come — Monday, April 27, 2020

Here we are with the fields starting to green up

There is new growth of mid-spring flowers

Freshness to the day and to my yard

The new leaves hazing the sky

With birds ever so busy in the generous sunshine

Their songs, like laughter, their flights like a dance

Little nests being built and plumped up in softness for the new life lifting all our hearts.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Watch for the Birds —- Wednesday, February 26, 2020

Perched, just there, right there

Hidden in the branches of the Bridal Veil Bushes

A flock of tiny little birds

Hiding from the wind

Swaying on the little branches.  Silent, yet there…waiting, waiting for the wind to stop.

From my world to your heart,

Linda

Beings that Brighten the Winter Sky — Sunday, February 2, 2020

A little shadow of a ringed-neck dove

The sound of large wings swooshing through the air

Watching the big birds landing

I love the calls ringing across the land

Rare that the cranes and geese mix, but they do

Their songs streaming though-out the trees

My heart lifts with them as they fly up, up, up

I love hiding so I can sneak up while they are pecking on the seeds

So I sing to you the song

Of the winter sky!

From my world to your heart,

Linda

I Welcome You to My Daily Prayer of Thanks —- Thursday, January 30, 2020

The winter birds lift my heart in gratitude each and every moment of each and every day

I always stand outside (each and every day) raise my hands to the sky

And Yell—yes I yell—Please come to our farm! Each and all of you are welcome

And it seems to be working

It’s true I reach out to them with scattered seeds and yummy bits of bird food

I honestly don’t care what variety comes

How big or how small

They are all welcome.

(Even sleepy little loud noisy starlings)

Wings, and brilliant colors, our farm is L.O.U.D with song!

Welcome! I call.

I feel truly blessed!

The Sky is still Frumpy with Winter —Wednesday, January 22, 2020

The birds of winter—-

Those delightful wandering large and small birds

Filling the air with their gossip and chatter

Shining brightly there in the sky

Filling our lawn with their busy searching and scratching

Then suddenly lifting up in a huge swoosh of wings

The tap-tap tapping on the bark of the very old Cottonwood tree fills the cold winter air

A pair of owls gently shake the branches of the same tree each evening as they call one to the other

A blackbird, of some sort, rests in the branches waiting for submissive sun take back the sky from clouds

The crows tell all the secrets of the land.

Thank Heavens for the winter birds.  They make my winter life ever so much better.

Your friend on a western Colorado farm,

Linda

Entwined in my Heart — Monday, December 9, 2019

Another wee rainbow yesterday!  What a joy to behold!

A hawk sat in the branches of the old Willow tree

He looked a little worse for wear…probably the too wet of the night. (I’m guessing)

Because of the rain, the ground was just right for Terry to smooth out the road

In front of the sheds.  It’s funny how the long lane to the house and the roads around the sheds seem to get lumps and bumps.

Then in the quiet, while I hauled wood and gathered eggs

I saw an unusual bird, a Woodpecker possibly?  Does anyone know?

And I think, this is a hawk…what do you think?

My daily sphere of life, little treasures of the ordinary.

From my world to your heart,

Linda
