The Beauty of Spring, — Sunday, May 19, 2024

There is such a magical beauty about this time of year

The stunning glory of the spread wings of the the Red-Winged Blackbirds

The chirping song of the Red-breasted Robins

Shadows starting to show leaves, instead of stark limbs

A little tiny slice of the moon; sending it’s light into the pulse of the earth

The sun shines through the clouds right into our souls.

The granules of sand, dust, and dirt gifting love to each one of us.

We are all so blessed, you and I.  So very blessed.

The Tapestry of Wings Glinting in the Sunlight —- Wednesday, August 4, 2021

Common Pheasant….he is a great one to scare a person by squawking and flying up suddenly at your feet 🙂

Northern Harrier Hawk

Hunting, hunting, hunting.

And that wonderful little nymph-like spirit

Called

Hummingbird….riding like a wisp on the currents of our air.

Always, No Matter What, There is a Force Which Tries to Restore Balance—Thursday, December 19, 2019

(I am going to use some old photos from my past blogs for this post today. I hope you enjoy)

(Mindy loves to run)

Sometimes the news makes me feel as if the world is titling

(Boomer always seems to be smiling)

Filling the places of everyday with tears of pain and sorrow

(Grandchildren)

What a sad thing everyday news reports…everyone (all peoples) are small and lonely and caught in a capsule of their own thoughts, of anger, and meanness and ugly revenge.

So — so I try very hard NOT to listen to the news.  It breaks my heart, the ugliness.

There really isn’t anything I can do —everyone has their own thoughts and refuse to listen to explanations outside of their personal reality.

Once we become trapped in sorrow, or anger, or revenge — it takes much inner work to cast the nastiness aside and move in a good place of being.

(Boomer loves the sun)

I’ve been told I live in a rose-colored world of isolation, my head is always in the sand,

Possibly so. It works for me.

I do pray to my God, and I ask that all the Gods of this world and the Universe please save our planet,

Please, bring forth forces of good into the world.

Right the wrongs, bring peace, save mankind, sometimes we humans, just don’t understand the terrible harms we do, because we become locked in our views.

And as I pray, my heart is filled with hope.

May you all be safe and warm and taken care of wonderful friends of my blog.

From my heart to your heart,

Linda

This One is About the Birds—-Tuesday, April 23, 2019

On my walk, last evening three cranes settled down.  They seem to have decided to stay here instead of migrating.

Works for me!

The crows are working the farm over for something to eat

They are hard to photograph as they scatter quicklyy

Yesterday was lovely and warm so I put out two hummingbird feeders

Within twenty minutes I had a little Blackchin male followed quickly by his mate. (The photo is terrible; they were very shy and I couldn’t get a good shot)

As the evening started to fall down upon the earth the little birds took to their nighttime perch.  For some reason, they have roosted here all fall, winter and they are still roosting in the large rose bush.

As the night grows darker they flutter way deep inside.

This morning on the way to the headgate

a pheasant took off in front of us

And joyfully, joyfully…the last of the birds has arrived!  The Barn Swallows!

We are on our way to much warmer weather!

YAY!

Drops of Sunlight—Tuesday, August 28, 2018

I find it ever so much fun to turn on my computer each morning and find within a email message from a friend.

There one was….From Kate: in that land of the Kiwi—

“Hello
We just had a 15 minute shower of rain, our first for 2 months. It didn’t last long, but it was long enough to produce this:”  Kate
There hanging in the stormy sky of indigo clouds; sparkled a rainbow!
A perfect way to start my day!
Thank you so much, Kate!

From my world to your heart,
Linda

Old Magic which Still Clings to the Earth—-Thursday, July 27, 2017

The last two days we enjoyed rain showers…sometimes the rain rode the sky in the morning

Or kissed the earth on a mid-night wind

At points the rain came in wild and untamed—

Cooling down the earth, so at one point we lived within a cloud

The moisture from the warm earth rising up to meet the cool air…fog –a most glorious and unusual gift in the high mountain desert!

Then yesterday the clouds all scuttered away on high wind, neither seen or felt here on on our little part of the earth

Walking among the flowers I could feel the Magic of the Old Ones

It’s still here, clinging to the earth…

Lifting us up for a heartbeat

(The Red Day-lily is a gift from Marianne )

In the shadows of ancient clouds.

Going Backwards—Monday, June 22, 2015

Yesterday was the Summer Solstice…the longest day of the year!

Now we start losing daylight hours…we start going backwards!  At least that is how I feel.

The-Place

Although, we don’t just suddenly jump from summer right into the dark and dreary winter, it’s a process…a rather nice one.  We will still have warm (hot days—it was 104* yesterday) and lovely sunshine.  Sky

I just know that winter is looming —shudder!

For now I’ll not think about it and relish in these lovely hot days!

I hope you are enjoying the perfect weather, where ever you might live.

Your friend,

Linda

June 17, 2013

I have some ‘new’ to me birds feeding at my Hummingbird feeders.  I really don’t know what they are so if someone out there does, please let me know.

It is possible these are the Lesser Goldfinch, but I’m not sure.

Yellow-Bird-1

I am surprised that these big birds like to drink the sugar water…they chase the hummers off and have a go at it; draining the feeder in a very short while.

Yellow-Bird-2

At first the hummers tried to dive bomb these big birds but they have given up now.  If the big birds show up the hummers just move down to another feeder or fly up into the tree branches.

Yellow-Bird-3

I tried putting out other types of food, but nothing tastes as good as sugar water! 🙂 They just let the oranges turn to cardboard….

If you know please drop me a comment…it would be fun to know who is ‘bellying up to the bar’, so to speak.
