The Adventures of Boomer on Friday— A Week in the Life of ME!

We have the little kids here, well, really we have Tally; Blade comes off and on.  Then this week-end Hank Puff and his Mom and Dad return and switch kids with us; we will then have Linkin.

Still I thought you would like seeing how my week has gone:

Beagle-Smiles

  • off to work with Dad

Making-T-done

  • making siphon tubes with Mom and Dad

Shovels

  • helping Mom irrigate…

Smells-!

I really don’t irrigate, Fuzzy did, but not I—I am the gatherer of news!

Vrrooom

  • riding with Mom and Tally on the back of the 4-wheeler to GO irrigate

Sniff

  • checking out who has been walking on the roads on the farm

Off-We-Go

  • heading into town, now and again

Then the hard part—

Waiting!

Waiting for someone to come out and play or waiting to be let in the house to sleep, or waiting to go to work

Waiting

Waiting.

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—Miserable

wet-1.jpgIt’s raining here again!  Lots of rain.  Too much rain.

There has been spots of sunshine mostly dribs and drabs of SUNSHINE!

We love the sunshine, Mom and I.  Well, I think everyone does.  Every time it shines we all go outside and do happy dances.  Mom says there are people in California and other places who would trade places with us anytime.

HUH?!

“Yes,” she said, “They would go outside and do happy dances in the rain. “They are missing the rain and we are missing the sunshine.”

Company-4

Anyway, Shiloh and Etta came up and played for a spell.

Outside

They pretty much chased Sam up a tree and kept him there.  I didn’t care to play that game.  Sam and I are friends.

RideIn a spot of sunshine I got to go for a ride.  Dad was checking on how the other farmer’s corn was doing.

WalkMom, Dad and I all went for a walk, well we pretty much do that lots of times throughout the day, but this time we walked up and checked on one of the transmission pipes.

Of course it rained some more.

Mom went to town and I waited for her until she returned

YAY-MOM

YAY!  Mom came back.  She had groceries and a BIG juicy bone just for me!

WaitingI always go out and check who has been walking on the farm.   Mostly I have been spending my time in the house sleeping by the woodstove, toasting one side then the other.  Mom says it’s strange to be burning the woodstove this time of year—as for me.

I think it’s nice.

Flood

Outside is—well, Miserable.

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—Nothing Much to Do

Mom and Dad sure have been busy.  So busy I haven’t got anything to do.

Sure has been boring.

LB

I tried following Mom while planting sweet corn, but it was just WAY too hot.

Panting down the rows is well…Boring!

Sam-on-the

Sam didn’t want to do anything but lay on the outside furniture and sleep.

That’s boring.

Mom got out the brush and comb and gave me a good going over…there was a pile of fur when she was done.  The sitting still was—well, boring.

Smile

But having all the fur off —Great!

Gosh…(sigh)…there is nothing fun to do.  Nothing!

Huh!?

Wait!?  What do I hear?

Bark

YES!!

Trucks

THE FEDEX MAN!  YIPPEE!

Mom

Now That was FUN!

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—Wet/Cold/Snow/Wind/Rain/Mud

Play I don’t have much to say today.  We, meaning Mom, Dad and Myself, are still trying to get the water down the fields, morning and night, sometimes noon and afternoon.

Snowing

I like irrigation season, but I sure don’t like this rain/snow/wind/rain/snow/mud stuff we are having now.  I still go, but I get really wet—my belly and my legs.  I need longer legs, I guess.

7

(There is mud out there, don’t let this fool you.)

Anyway, it’s so nasty and wet today, Mom told me I had to STAY at the house, ON my bed, in my BEDROOM.  She didn’t know but I STAYED right by the wood stove until I heard the 4-wheelers drive into the yard, then I slipped ever so quickly onto my bed in my bedroom.

TeeHee

There I was sitting there like I was ready to go outside, just as innocent as you please.  Mom came in and gave me lots of pets and a hug; said I was a good doggie all nice and dry and warm.  I agree—good dog, dry, warm…I gave her a huge smile and a kiss on the hands!

Other than lots of sleeping, not much going on.  I think the cats have it figured out…Mom and Dad get cold, wet and muddy.  We stay warm and dry!

Sun(What we woke up too.)

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—Easter Sunday

We’ve entered my FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR!!! Spring Farm work!  That means, Dad, Mom and MYSELF are always, always, always out on the farm!  YAY!

Anyway, Easter Sunday was the last day we had company.  It was also the day we all headed to the Uncompahgre Plateau for the first spring picnic of the year!

Track-Practice

First things first, Blade is out for track at his local Middle School in Craig, Colorado.  Every morning he would run way up to the end of the first corn field (one mile) and then run back…he didn’t want to lose his leg and lung capacity.

Run with Hank

So Hank and I ran with him.  (Just between you and me…that’s HARD work!)

Easter2

Then it was time to head out for Lee’s Reservoir.

Easter-1We had a great time—I LOVED all the smells up there, just enjoyed every minute.

PaulJason’s Dad, Paul, was here and went with us.  Paul and Tally are great friends.  Tally is one of those people everyone really likes.

T

The newest dog niece came along also…meet Gypsy an American Bulldog.  I think she is an American bulldog…I might be wrong, she is a bulldog; that’s for sure.

New

Tayler (Gypsy’s kid) and Tally took outstand care of her, which worked for me.  I sure didn’t want to puppy sit.

Green

It’s been really windy for days here, but yesterday and today NO WIND! Mom said it was nice to set water in still air.  I thought it was nice to walk everywhere without getting dirt in my eyes!

Boomer

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—Fun with Hank and the Kids

It’s been busy here!  I mean really busy.

Hank and I have had lots and lots to do!

Oh! Yeah.  Hank is here for 9 days! 9 Days of doing stuff with Hank and sometimes the kids!

YAY!

Fun-2

We went to the park

Grandpa pushed the girls, Hank and I sat with Mom-mom and Mom; then we stiffed around all the bushes.

More-walk

We went for a walk, actually many, many walks.  Hank and I walked with kids and then we would walk out onto the farm by ourselves.

RIDE

We tried to follow grandpa when he would take the kids for a ride, If Blade went on the 4-wheeler then Hank and I ran beside him…that was ALWAYS exhausting.  But Blade doesn’t go fast so we can keep up.

Swinging

We had a cook out where Blade played on the swing.  Mom said she was very happy to see the Swing going back and forth again.  J  Hank and I laid under the bushes and panted…it was hot that evening.

Water

One time we all went to the river and played in the water down there.

Tree

I even tried climbing a tree… (I didn’t like it.  Hank didn’t even try to climb the tree)

Creek-1

The girls took me out swimming…not a favorite thing of mine to do—but Hank loved it.

Water-3

Still more days to go…Hank and I, not best friends forever, like Fuzzy and I were,

Sharing

but good friends.

Boomer

The Adventures of Boomer on Friday—My Job

I had company last weekend.

Not just little kids, but also DOG COUSINS!

Hank came!

Company

Rocky Chaco Man, the Rottweiler and

Love-Houston

Houston the Princess!

We did lots of stuff…sniffed around for news, found beefy jerky to chew on…carried in lots of milk duds for snacks and still chowed down on dog food!

Mom says the grandchildren are coming again TODAY!  That means Hank will be here again!

Dogs-and-BladeYAY!

Then everyone will go for Sunday Birthday party at Scout and Darby’s place.  I don’t get to go.  Neither do all of Shannon’s dogs, or Uncle Evan’s and Aunt Jolyne’s dogs…but Hank DOES!

Mom says Hank has to go, because he will leave from Grand Junction to go back to Craig after the party is over.

I think it would be neat to go see Scout and Darby, pout, pout, but Mom says “No, Boomie…you have to guard the place.”

So I guess (sigh) that is exactly what I will do.
